The absolute BEST book I have seen for teens on witchcraft.,
By Amber Delaine "Amber Delaine" (HI, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Teen Spell Book: Magick for Young Witches (Paperback)
The Teen Spell Book: Magick for Young Witchesby Jamie Wood Paperback: black & white text and illustrations This easy-to read book has so much information to offer anyone starting out in Wicca or for acclimated practitioners who are looking for some new ideas. Although the writer teaches some false issues (such as Wicca being an ancient tradition which predates Christianity) it makes up for its errors in other ways. Far from being newbie-ish, as many teen books tend to be, The Teen Spell Book teaches rather than preaches. There is a small section in the beginning which includes some history on Wicca (almost none of which is true, but can be overlooked) and follows with easy to read charts and step-by-step instructions. Readers will find short and to-the-point chapters on information pertaining to Wicca, such as how to practice, and beliefs. The next chapter discusses the holidays and their traditions. Following these pages are beautifully decorated charts on Gods and Goddesses, listed by their holidays, animal totems, runes, and elementals. A short glossary is included in the back of the book. The information in this book is easy to locate and tends to be ordered as it would be in the reader's own book of shadows, taking things one step at a time. Of course, most teens want to get to the main thing: spells. Never, in my years of teaching witchcraft have I seen such a compilation all in one place. In face, over 3/4 of the entire book is devoted entirely to spells, each one carefully laid out and easy to read with tools and materials easily accessible to teens. The spells in The Teen Spell Book are all incredibly useful. Some are for fun while others have real use in everyday life. This beautiful book includes seventy five spells for love, luck, beauty, and happiness, including: Heal from illness, pain, or negativity Discover what others say about you Discover your unique gift See the future or fairies Establish trust with your parents Find love or learn to fit in Have a peaceful breakup or heal a broken heart Meet a famous person Summon a loved one's spirit Feel rich or make money Get rid of rumors and be invited to parties Cast a spell of protection Get a job Get less homework Make Colleges Beg for You Pass the class Make your hair grow long Banish Self-Destructiveness Dealing with teasing and criticism Free yourself from depression As a teacher of the craft, I highly recommend this book. Despite its few drawbacks, it is definitely the best book on the subject I have ever come into contact with. -AmberSkyfire Editor of WitchCrafted ...

Don't listen to stupid 1 star reviews.,

This review is from: The Teen Spell Book: Magick for Young Witches (Paperback)
I'm not going to write a review about this book because there are already some excellent ones. I do however want to clarify the lies that some of the negative reviews are saying about this book ie; the book says wicca is an ancient tradition. The author DOES NOT say that wicca is ancient but says that it is BASED on ancient earth based religions: paganism, witchcraft etc... Wicca was invented in the 50's and the ideas are from various religions. So don't listen to the negative review this book is pretty good, but still I wouldn't say its the best book on the subject by far.

It's not about the magick...,

This review is from: The Teen Spell Book: Magick for Young Witches (Paperback)
This book is about empowerment and healing, not about performing spells. "Spells" are designed to focus ones intent and it is the intent that "performs" the magick. The challenges of peoples teen years turn into the challenges of their adult years and this book allows both teen and adults to heal the wounds that they carry - and everyone has them. Anyone who presumes this book is about performing trick spells or turning themselves into toads has missed the point completely. Wicca can be an eccletic mix of whatever it needs to be for each person and this book allows teens and adults to do it in a simple and easy way, while giving them the opportunity to delve into their own power and creativity and come up with what works for them.
I use this book as a wonderful reference when old issues emerge and I need a creative and less painful way to manage and deal with them. It doesn't have to be complicated to get the job done and teens (and adults alike) will appreciate that.

This is the BEST! It's not just words that she writes down, it POETRY. It will help anyone. It has EVERYTHING that you could possibly need. It's the first book I bought on the subject, and I still look at it first when I need a spell. But, really, if you need a powerful spell, you should write it yourself.

when i was younger i had always had an urge to learn magick. it felt natural. i found this book at a book store and originally bought for a friend. i took it home and read it and had to keep it for myself. it is perfect for a person to learn the craft from even if you arn't a teen. as long as you are a teen at heart.

I discovered The Teen Spell Book: Magick for Young Witches while meandering through the metaphysical section in my local Borders, and curious, began to read. It was my first book on what is now part of my lifestyle. The writing flows, clearly explains everything, has plenty of information, and even more about further resources. A great starter book for anyone thinking about Wicca or paganism.

Too complicated spells,
By aliaslover (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Teen Spell Book: Magick for Young Witches (Paperback)
This book is good because of the variety and number of the spells. (it doesn't spend half the book reiterating what wicca is) but the spells require many expensive ingredients, teenagers whose parents aren't wiccan won't be able to do these spells because they won't be able to get to a new age store. The spells are good and they do work, but do to the complicated spells i have to give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Depressingly Bad,
By Azelma (New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Teen Spell Book: Magick for Young Witches (Paperback)
You know when you open a book on witchcraft at random and you see a paragraph starting "Ancient Wiccans..." that you've discovered a book that's incredibly bad.
Wicca is a modern religion, not an ancient one. This book is full of inaccuracies. The author should be ashamed of spreading falsehoods and misinformation like this. This is definitely not a book on Wicca - it couldn't touch Wicca with a ten foot pole. I would never recommend it for someone interested in Wicca. In fact, I would warn them away from it vehemently. It's not even a half-decent book on witchcraft. The spells are sub-par. Look elsewhere. |
