A Skeptic Converted,
By
This review is from: Teen Titans - The Complete Fourth Season (DC Comics Kids Collection) (DVD)
Let me begin by admitting that although I am an avid animation collector, I never considered myself much of a Teen Titans fan. I appreciated the source material but the animated series was a bit too campy and certainly too anime-heavy.
That said, I took a chance on the complete 4th season on account of the great reviews it has been receiving. Having just completed the season last night, I must express my extreme satisfaction to this collection and the series as a whole. As others have said, the show's producers and writers have found their rhythm! The 4th season relies less upon Japanese-style animation and more on wonderful plots and character development. The series is pretty evenly mixed between funny romps and a back-story of Raven facing her destiny. The balance is absolutely perfect between light-hearted adventures and disturbing apocalyptic good versus evil episodes. Also worth mentioning is the surprising return of Slade with a new look and some cool surprises. Additionally, the lighter episodes are genuinely funny as opposed to gimmicky. Without giving too much away, the episode featuring the alien "the source" (Employee of the Month) had me laughing out loud. As a long-time DCAU aficionado, I must confess that the 4th season of Teen Titans is so impressive that I've since ordered the earlier seasons to catch up on what I've been missing. Included are the following episodes: Episode 257-494 AKA Don't Touch That Dial Cyborg the Barbarian Birthmark The Quest Employee of the Month TROQ The Prophecy Stranded Overdrive Mother Mae-Eye The End - Part 1 The End - Part 2 The End - Part 3

Teen Titans Complete Fourth Season,

Any hardcore or casual fan of DC Comics Superheroes (Batman, Robin, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lanturn, etc) will want to own and expierence this show, and this is by far its best season without question. Hardcore and casual fans of Bruce Timm's Animated Batman world should also pick up Teen Titans season 4 (as well as 1-3, and 5 if it's out) because the same principle applies. As Bruce Timm and his entire ensamble reimagined and updated Batman stories, that is what Glen Murakami did with the Teen Titans. Every character, story, and scene establishes this show as truly unique. You have fun with the characters as they laugh, worry when they're in danger, and feel every blow of every fight sequence.
Glen and his team have taken a historic period in DC Comics history, of which NO ONE should be unaware, and created his own vision. A bright, sunny, west coast city, with unique art, colors, and some quirky anime manurisms which really grow on you. I recommend starting off with the first season, so the fourth has an even bigger impact than it would alone, but either way this is a must have. For owners of previous seasons, the only thing that might throw you off is that there is no paper inside the box listing the episodes. They are listed on the back cover instead. The episodes range from dramatic and powerful to silly Scooby Doo and back again, similar to previous seasons. What stands out about season four, however, is that the season's main plot is the show's most epic yet.

with better episodes and stories. Also a lot more is explained about Raven's past and why she's the way she is. With the return also of a old Titan enemy that they all thought was long gone. Its good to see each one of the Titans pretty much have their own episode revolving around them. I enjoyed all of them especially the 3 part season ender revolving around a prophecy of Raven being the key that brings about the destruction of the Earth. The Titans all band together to help bring the earth from this destruction and in the process come to a greater understanding of just what Raven's gone through since joining the Titans.
It makes for an excellent season end episode and leaves it wide open for the following season with many possibilities. Great show that parents and kids can get into and enjoy along with everyone else.

Return of the Teens,

Robin, Raven, Beast Boy, Starfire, and Cyborg are finally back in their fourth season of their action-packed, and sometimes wacky, adventures as they battle villains and other typical teenage problems.
Thirteen episodes are in this 2-disc set such as: "Cyborg the Barbarian" - Cyborg accidentally gets transported into the past and attempts to save a village in danger before he loses power. "Birthmark" - Raven's having an unhappy birthday because of the ominous return of the Titans' greatest enemy: Slade. "Employee of the Month" - Beast Boy gets a job at a fast-food restaurant in order to get the moped of his dreams. "The Prophecy" - It all becomes clear on Slade's return when Raven tells the others a grave secret involved. "Mother Mae-Eye" - A personal favorite of mine, a strange woman named Mother Mae-Eye give the Titans lots of love, care, and heaping helpings of pie. However, her latest concoction has the Titans as the main ingredient. "The End" - It's the epic three-parter where the Teen Titans save the world from Slade and his new partner-in-crime, Trigon, Raven's father. A special feature in this set is similar to the "Know Your Foes" feature in the third season. Basically it's more secret information on the Titans' villains gallery. Though I'm still surprised that "Teen Titans" is still playing on Cartoon Network and new stories are published in "Teen Titans Go" comic books, it's great to see this cool superhero team once again. (I wonder if there's going to be a crossover episode with Ben 10 ? You never know.)

Simply put, this was the best season yet...simply because we learn more about Raven's origins and upbringing. You can see why she might be a bit dour at times...though not why she keeps chopping off her hair. It really looks much better long...

Saludos!
Andres

In the description is written that the language are English, Spanish and French. I bought this item to watch it in Spanish, but my surprise was that the Dvd has only English language. No Spanish or French. Please fix that.

I started buying the Teen Titans series on DVD for my kids because they started expressing an interest in comic books. Having been a collector from childhood through college I was eager to pass my love of superheroes on and Teen Titans looked clean enough that I wouldn't have to worry. I was right.
Each season is clean, intelligent fun. Moral choices are shown along with consequences and there is a clear good or evil differentiation. The characters look great and the stories don't lag. I like that the episodes continue the overall storyline as well. And you can't beat the price on Amazon! If you are looking for a great superhero show for your family Teen Titans is a great place to start.
