5.0 out of 5 stars More Great Songs Than I Remembered
Through a friend-of-a-friend, I got to see a preview of the new Teen Witch musical review, performed live by the cast members featured on this CD (which I've just received). I've seen the film (because of the aforementioned connection), and I remembered a few of the songs (e.g, Popular Girl, Finest Hour, etc.), which, as devotees of the movie know, are pure 80s pop and...

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay but prefer the original.
It's nice to finally have a soundtrack to the movie, but I wish it had been the original music or at least included the beats that were in the movie during the dance scenes. I'd rather rip the soundtrack from the DVD or even buy a soundtrack ripped from the DVD then buy one with new voices that really don't capture the movie or the 80s. I can understand that for a 15 year...

Through a friend-of-a-friend, I got to see a preview of the new Teen Witch musical review, performed live by the cast members featured on this CD (which I've just received). I've seen the film (because of the aforementioned connection), and I remembered a few of the songs (e.g, Popular Girl, Finest Hour, etc.), which, as devotees of the movie know, are pure 80s pop and could have been huge hits if, say, they would have been released by Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, The Bangles, or (insert your favorite 80s singer here). What blew me away during that performance was just how many great songs there were, and how many were unfamiliar to me. Every song performed was excellent. Were all of these in the movie? Whether or not some of them are written for the new production, or else were sort of incidental music in the film, they're great, and are performed fantastically well by the cast. One I particularly like is "I Keep On Falling" - great song, and the singer can probably blow away anyone on "American Idol"; that kid's a star in the making, as is the girl who's performing the title role, and many of the others. The movie, and the songs, definitely have sentimental appeal to me, but I think anyone who loves melodic pop music will really love this CD. And fans of the movie will love not only the new recordings of the more prominent songs from the the film, but the more unfamiliar songs as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars freakin amazing!!, March 23, 2007
This review is from: Teen Witch the Musical (Audio CD)
bein that this music/movie came from my era, of course im a little biased about teen witch!! but not only that, it was just such a cool movie. the music was always more recited among me and my friends more than any other movie/musical. but now comin out with a MUSICAL... is just pure genious, for those of us "'80's kids" who need our updated teen witch fix!

"Teen Witch the Musical" realy is such a fun and great album. i give major props to all who put it together, and all those amazing kids who sing in it. i just barely got the cd myself, and so have only heard all the songs now. but i cant wait to show it to all my friends who were right there with me watchin teen witch over and over again for "like" the last ten/fifteen years (?! wow has it been that long!) :)

thanks to the cd, i cant wait to see the musical, and finally be able sing all my teen witch faves (outloud) when i go there!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Album !!!, March 2, 2007
This review is from: Teen Witch the Musical (Audio CD)
I can't believe they finally came out with an amazing album from my favorite movie!! I don't know what that HEEHAW is talking about with 1 star. They do remakes and updates all the time because after 20 years it would be a little tired to come out with the same old 80's recording. It is the soundtrack from the new MUSICAL! The production and vocals are fantatastic! Hello! I highly recomend this album especially "Finest Hour". And the new song "Fool For Love". For us Teen Witch Fans it is a dream come true! I suggest Mr. heehaw go buy the original recording of Jennifer Holiday in "Dream Girls" while the rest of Amercia enjoys the academy award winning performance of Jennifer Hudson. And I am the first one in line for a ticket to "TEEN WITCH THE MUSICAL"

5.0 out of 5 stars Impulse purchase, December 8, 2007
This review is from: Teen Witch the Musical (Audio CD)
I've been watching the original "Teen Witch" movie since I was young. After first viewing it on Disney Channel nearly a decade ago, I was hooked. (I feel it is also safe to say it's a tragedy a formal soundtrack was never released for this movie. It was filled with great featured songs.)
I happened upon this musical's myspace one day while searching for 80's soundtrack information to random shows. After listening to a few of the samples of Never Gonna Be (the Same Again), Dream Lover, and Finest Hour I was pleasantly shocked to say I liked the majority of what I heard. I ordered the album off of Amazon soon after.

If you are buying this album expecting the original songs as in the movie, only with some minor (or no) changes, you are mistaken. The songs carry the same feel and atmosphere, but have been modernized. (This is not to say they are not just as good as their originals!) Also, there are other tracks included here - some you only hear for a few moments during the movie, and some new material.

My favorite songs on this album are Never Gonna Be (the Same Again), Finest Hour, Dream Lover, Get Up & Move, and She's Put a Spell on You.

There are few CDs or DVDs I will buy quickly, but I must say to anyone reading this review, this is *the* best impulse buy I have ever done! It is a gem in my CD collection, and all around, is a collection of great remakes for any fan of the movie! I can not praise this album enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Psyched!, February 17, 2007
This review is from: Teen Witch the Musical (Audio CD)
I am so glad this is coming out - the songs are one of the best parts of the film. I certainly don't stand alone in loving this movie and all things related -- it seems as though most people I talk to about it have some relationship to the movie too and love it! They *finally* came out with the DVD, now this. I must admit, I haven't checked it out yet, but how could it be bad?!? Anyone with more information, please post ... and definitely check out Teen Witch. You won't be disappointed!

I can understand that for a 15 year old her voice is very good, but she doesn't seem to have that depth or range that would be nice with this movies soundtrack. It sort of sounds like she couldn't hit the note right in some places so they tried to drown it out through the filters and it just sounds bad.

Hopefully the original soundtrack will come out, if not, I'll just stick with the movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 Thumbs Way UP!!, March 3, 2007
This review is from: Teen Witch the Musical (Audio CD)
The idea to remake this awesome 80's movie into a Musical is sheer genius! I want to be the first person in line when the show comes out! The music in the album is amazing. It's like I'm back in the 80's, only without all the reverb. What more could you ask for? I love it!

1.0 out of 5 stars WHY NOT THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK!!??, February 28, 2007
This review is from: Teen Witch the Musical (Audio CD)
Yes, It's just remakes to the great songs from the original Teen Witch film. Only problem is... the singers are terrible!!! The way they sang on the original film soundtrack(never released)blows this release out of the water. This sorry excuse for a soundtrack sounds like local high school kids singing over the original tracks on a karoeke machine. It's like Paris Hilton remaking the Bodyguard soundtrack, why would you? Do the fans a favor and release the original!!! Or find better vocalists!!
