Betrock's study of the teen exploitation film is smart, fun, and well researched. Although the emphasis is on the "renaissance" of these B-pictures, Betrock traces the genre all the way back to the silents. Included is an overview, essays, snippets of critical reviews of the day, and annotated filmographies of such delights as High School Hell Cats and Sex Kittens Go To College . The lurid movie posters and reprinted newspaper ads spread generously over the pages are hilarious. For those without Michael Weldon's The Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film (Ballantine, 1983), this entry is recommended for YA and large film collections. I went out of my way to track down this book. You should too. A really fun look at this era of popular culture. A ton of interesting facts, and photos I'd never seen in any other source. Get this book!
