I caught the (somewhat cheesy) video to this one on BET while I was on vacation and listened to it again on the trip home on the airline's in-flight jukebox. I really like it. The controversial suggestion would be that it's the best thing so far to come out of the album As I Am but what the heck - here's a statement no one can challenge: It's the only thing I've heard from the album so far, that I like. It's soulful, melodious and great fun. Keys sings in an unusually high register, presumably to capture the essence of the song; it's all about innocence and youth, but I wonder how (or if) she'll be able to replicate that on tour, when she may have to sing the song over and over again. Her vocal chords'll be knackered!

Once again, it's only available on download at the moment but it's only a matter of time. A CD single is pretty inevitable and when it comes, I'll definitely be picking this up (Sorry, Joe!)

But in the meantime, to all you lovely downloaders out there who haven't got the album as yet, I suggest check this one out. You might like it. At last! Something soulful from Ms. Keys!

There is no doubt about Alicia Keys. She is definitely one of the best singer/songwriters in the industry right now. With her latest album As I Am, she has shown promise with a lot of really great songs, and the third single from that album, Teenage Love Affair, brings in the classic soul vibe well. The song is one of her more upbeat songs off that album, which brings in a style that feels similar to the music that has shown promise from 60's R&B. While the song is good, it just isn't as strong as No One or Like You'll Never See Me Again. Still, with a lot of artists right now making poorly made songs, Alicia can always be counted on with making a good song work.
