I was so excited for these classic TMNT figures! And I must say that these figures are awesome! These guys are the definitive classics Ninja Turtles! Here we got the smart turtle, Donatello. They have so many great features to them:

Detail and Accuracy: The detail on these guys look so much like the 80s cartoon, it's just fun to look at them and remember my childhood and smile. Donatello has his "D" on his belt! They each have their signature weapons. Donatello specifically has his Bo staff, which he can stored in the holder on his back. The Bo looks great with the bandage wrapping throughout the middle of it. Donny probably has the worst of the eyes being painted facing outwards as his eyes make him look a little goofy.

Articulation: These guys have a TON of articulation! With over 30 points of articulation, you can get them into some great poses. Some of the joints can be a little loose though but still hold position pretty well. Just having the individual finger and toe articulation is great! The finger articulation is tight also so it is no problem to hold their weapons firmly. And even though it is a lot of articulation, it does not make the figure look ugly or overly done in the joints. Sometimes some of the joints can pop loose too but they are easy to put back on since most joints are ball joints.

Overall, Donatello is a must have! Get this guy for your turtle collection!!

(This review may look similar to my reviews for the other figures, but given the figures use the same bodies, arms, and legs the reviews for each can only be slightly different).

This is my forth of four reviews I am doing for these figures, and I gotta tell you these figures are great. Anyone who wasn't born under a rock knows who the Turtles are, so I won't spend a lot of time with a long and drawn out introduction to either the character or the franchise. I will say, however, that like you, I do have very fond memories of the team of heroes in a half-shell. Our team of four young turtles, led by Splinter, and fighting the evil forces of Shredder was a great television show and movie series. One of the main characters was Donatello so I will focus on him here and now.

Figure Mold:
Starting at the head and working our way down we find that Donatello's head sculpt is pretty spot on. Donatello is known for his crush on April O'Neil, and the rest of his brothers quite enjoy teasing him for it, so it would have been nice to see a more playful smile rather than the combative smirk he has. The facial mold is more geared towards a fighting look rather than a fun-loving look, but given the figures are more for combat rather than otherwise, the mold is appropriate. The bandana that goes around the eyes is very well painted and sculpted. I appreciate that Playmates spent a little more time and effort in these figures, and rather than opting to just paint the bandana on the head they actually sculpted it in 3D.

The four turtle figures all get their own shade of green paint and the little bits and pieces, the knee pads and the wrappings around the elbows, eyes, and their belts all get their own paint color or identifying marks to separate themselves from their brothers.

My Donatello came Wall Eyed (both eyes looking in different directions) this looks terrible. I did some research on youtube and on other sites, and it looks like this is a big problem with most of the Donatello's that have currently been put into circulation. I'm going to get some model paint and correct mine, but I would really rather have a Don that came in impeccable condition from the factory. It also looks like All these Donatello's have a line across their right cheek this also looks less then what I wanted, but doesn't bother me as much as the goofy eyes. For whatever reason this only seems to be a problem exclusive to the Don Figure, and all the other turtles seem to be in exceptionable condition.

Length: 5:40 Mins
Splinter taught them to be ninja teens (He's a radical rat!)
Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines (That's a fact, Jack!)
Raphael is cool but rude (Gimme a break!)
Michelangelo is a party dude (Party!)

If you grew up loving the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons, figures, games, and movies, then you're going to love this figurine. Even if you didn't and you're a new TMNT fan, this is still one figure you're going to want to own. The detail and articulation throughout this figure is excellent. The included sewer cover base plate is an added bonus (each Turtle has his own name written on the plate he comes with). I also love the size of these "Classic Collection" figures compared to my original 1980's collection. The added height really makes them come alive and stand apart.

With all of the articulation on this figure and the increased size over the standard TMNT action figure lines, it's definitely geared towards the collector who wants to put it on display. However, it's still a very well-built figure, and I expect it should hold up well for anyone who wants a super-detailed yet classic-looking TMNT figure for playtime. I tried to cover most of the major articulation points in the video, but I know there are some I missed (such as the ankles' ability to rotate side-to-side as well as up and down). So just realize that these figures are VERY posable - even moreso than what I show in the video.

Mine did come with extremely stiff shoulder joints right out of the box. It took quite a bit of pushing and pulling to get them moving, and I was a little concerned I was going to damage the joint just below the shoulder ball as I was gradually increasing the amount of force I was having to use.
