Great Saga of this TMNT Series!,
By Jon "Jon" (Haverhill, Ma) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Season 3, Volume 3: Return of the Ultimate Ninja (Ways of the Warrior) (DVD)
Though the cover art shown (as of my typing this, anyway) is for the next Volume, this one is to be the 5 episode 'Time/Space Saga' storyline -- containing:
"Reality Check", where Mikey ends up in a world where the Turtles have super powers! "Across the Universe", where Raph ends up on another world... right in the middle of a -very- dangerous race! "Same As It Never Was", which sees Don in a possible-future, where Shredder rules and the Turtles and their friends are a resistance movement trying to put an end to him. "The Real World, Part 1", has Leo in a strange world, where he meets up with old friends Usagi and Gen. And must help them, while also trying to find a way home. "The Real World, Part 2", Leo and Usagi arrive at the Battle Nexus, hoping the Daimyo can help Leo find his family. But things don't go well for the pair...

Another great Tmnt Dvd!,
By Blindguy07 "Bob" (Arkansas, Conway, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Season 3, Volume 3: Return of the Ultimate Ninja (Ways of the Warrior) (DVD)
Drako and the Ultimate Ninja make good on their vow to take revenge on the turtles.(See Time Travials in Ways of the Warrior 3.6) The turtles are enjoying some well deserved downtime when Ultimate Drako arrives. Having obtained Lord Simultaneous' Time Scepter(See Time Travails), the two villains scatter the turtles across space and time. Michaelangelo is sent to a reality in which the turtles are superheroes. Now, together they must stop a deadly enemy who to Mikey's surprise is all too familiar. These events occur in the episode Reality Check.
In Across the Universe, Raph is transported to a world in which he must participate in a thrilling competition. He must literally race for his life. In Same as it Never Was, Don is transported to a terrible reality in which Shredder rules the world. And now he must band together a resistance and face this adversary. But not all shal survive. In The Real world Parts I and II, Leonardo is sent to a world similar to Ancient Japan in which he meets a few old friends from the Battle Nexus Tournament. For in the Battle Nexus is where all the answers lie, it seems. Leonardo must find his way there, and he must atempt to bring all of his brothers together once again. For in the shadows, Ultimate Drako waits for a final confrontation. Have I said enough? Are ya gonna purchus this one yet?

Through time, space, and everything in between,

This review is from: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Season 3, Volume 3: Return of the Ultimate Ninja (Ways of the Warrior) (DVD)
This DVD collects the five episodes that make up the time/space/dimension-hopping arc from the third season of the new Ninja Turtles series. Two of the Turtles' enemies have returned, merged as one ugly creature, and they send our heroes into seperate adventures, where they must fight to return home.
This was an okay arc. The paper thin plot is pretty much an excuse to toss the Turtles into crossovers with related properties, including creator Peter Laird's popular Planet Racers series, and also a cameo-fest from the Usagi Yojimbo gallery. Fans will appreciate the Usagi episode, but the Planet Racers adventure feels pretty boring and cliche by comparison. Mikey is also tossed into an alternate universe where the Turtles have super powers much like the Fantastic Four/Justice League. Again an interesting concept, but the episode pretty much exists for itself and doesn't affect the main storyline much. By far the best episode is Donny's adventure, where he ends up in a dystopian reality where Shredder rules supreme. Every series has a "future shock" episode like this, and despite the alternate-reality cliches, this could very well be one of the best episodes in the entire series. It's a very dark story with a surprisingly high body count, and is definitely worth checking out. Part five ends the arc somewhat anti-climatically, and doesn't really deliver the punch you'd expect from a five-part story. Certainly not the strongest multi-episode story of the series, but its a unique experience and younger fans should likely be pleased. Worth checking out for the Donny story and for those who'd like to see the Planet Racers and Usagi universe in animation.

I thought Donny's nightmare was a bit too sad. Mikey's one was brilliant.
