5.0 out of 5 stars old school meets new school, October 25, 2003

This game has the touch of the old TMNT we loved back in the day. But now, its more than button mashing because the turtles have combos and whatnot. Sadly, there are no levels where you ride on skateboards and stuff, but the amount of unlockables makes up for it. If you love a good "beat-em up" game, then this one is for you. TURTLE POWER!

5.0 out of 5 stars The return of the "beat 'em up" games we loved, January 12, 2004
This review is from: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Video Game)
I remember the nintendo entertainment system when it was in its glory days, it had some of the best beat 'em up games from double dragon and the TMNT series. When they were planning to release a TMNT game for the new generation consoles I cringed, only because it has been so long since Konami released a TMNT game and since most games on XBox were simulation and first person shooter or the GTA design I wasn't sure if TMNT would hold up. When i started playing it for ps2 at a local wal mart I liked it a lot, I got it for XBox and it is amazing, it has that good ol' feel of the beat 'em up games I remember playing and loving on NES back in the good ol' days when I was 7 and 8. anyways, if you like old school games I HIGHLY consider this.

I rented this game before buying. I usually don't do this but I was skeptical about this one. I lost interest and so didn't finish the game.

This TMNT game brought me back to the NES days, which I enjoyed throughly. This version left a little to be desired. I cannot believe they only allow two players co-op! And the first joystick (main player) cannot change players on continues. If you choose a different turtle at the main menu, you loose your progress also.

A lot of the same enemies were in the new version. The graphics were nice and vibrant but the views in some cases were horrible. They needed to step back the view just a bit, I was constantly hoping to see more of my surroundings, kind of like no periferal(sp?) vision. The turtle voice overs got old pretty quick. I always loved fighting the bosses and liked how they flashed red as their energy depleated. I did not finish the game but the bosses I fought were kind of boaring.

If you liked the NES TMNT games you will enjoy this one. But like I mentioned it lacks some touches. I would recommend renting this one first.
