I've had the complete set of NECA Turtles for well over a year now. I'm no collector, but being a lifetime Turtles fan, I goggled at the sight of these on the 'net. Now, fast forward a year, and I can still say that these figures are some of the best out there.

As a kid I had a roomful of Playmates Turtles toys, but I always wished they had the articulation of my G.I. Joes. Though I certainly wish I could have had the NECA Turtles as a kid, NECA produces figurines for adult collector's. They're made from fragile plastic, so it's stronlgy recommended that they be handled carefully.
Nevertheless, an adult as myself can still have a lot of fun with these turtles, whether for display or putting in various poses. The articulation on these is outstanding, and the detail to the original comics (but with color) is phenomenal.
I'm glad that they stuck with the red bandannas, as all the Turtles originally had on in Eastman and Laird's comics.

I initially obtained Raphael only (hence the review), but decided he was just too cool to stand by himself. The later Turtles were acquired over time, but, because this was my first acquisition and Raphael is my favorite turtle anyway, he'll remain on display all by himself.
From what I understand, he's the hardest Turtle to find, and now the NECA sets are hard to find altogether. But if you can land one at a decent price, I say go for it.
Whether you're a collector or a commoner whose childhood was based on the cheesy 'toons, this is one Turtle that will make your friends say, "Holy cow! That's awesome!"
Mine sure did!

NECA's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figures are an awesome tribute to the original TMNT comics by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. As per NECA's usual standards, Raphael is incredibly detailed and come loaded with articulation. His tsais feel weighty and made of sturdy plastic. Raphael also comes with a base, a baby turtle, and other accessories.

Raphael is made in the style of the original TMNT comics. The style and paint scheme are in the spirit of the original comics, even down to the red bandana and detailing on the shell. As such, he looks like they just jumped off the page of one of the comics. The stark contrast of black grit on the yellow plastron and green body generally works well to highlight the detail. The pictures I saw online don't do justice to how awesome this figure look in person.

As other reviewers have noted, this figure isn't really a toy per se. It's primarily for collectors. It's not fragile, but might break with rough play. However, this guy works beautifully for display. The articulation means you can pose him in almost any action pose you want. I'd be wary of twisting and turning the joints too much, but the poses do hold well.

Unfortunately, this figure expensive and it's tough to find on the secondhand market. However, for diehard TMNT fans, it's a must. You can look for the figures in the tube packaging, which are the same except that they have fewer accessories and no baby turtles.
