5.0 out of 5 stars A Teen's View
This book, though easy to read and not very long, contains some of the most incredible things I have ever read. The ideas are so simple, yet they leave quite an impact. Making contacts, trying out jobs, and thinking about what you really want to be are just some of the things Foster covers in this great book. Buy it for your kids, your grandkids, or any young adult...

4.0 out of 5 stars Classroom use, December 9, 1999
By
Noelle Baker (Chadron, Nebraska) - See all my reviews
Currently I am using this book in my speech class with 10-12 graders. Their reviews are mixed. Some are turned off and feel he is bragging, but they are in the minority. Most are intrigued by his ideas and are willing to rise to his challenge. They especially enjoy learning the art of conversation and the panel discussion with community leaders.

4.0 out of 5 stars Real stuff for the real world!, November 23, 1999
Calling all teens.....Do you want to know what it really takes to make it in the real world? The secrets that are in this book, you won't get in any school. I believe that the principles in this book have helped me along the way.

Chad Fostor is a wonderful businessman who made his money very early in life. He gives credit to his people skills.

This book will go over some things that you probably not even heard or thought about. Read this book with an open mind. May this book give you some guidance about how to make a network of friends and cultivate great relationships while you are young.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensable Guide for teens, May 7, 2004

I had the pleasure of hearing Chad Foster speak as well as reading this book when I was a teenager. It changed my life - made me realize the important things in life. Because of this book I have set realistic professional goals and worked hard to achieve them, which set me apart from most of the *clueless* people in my generation. I attribute part of my success to this book, which is thoroughly interesting and speaks the truth.

It is a shame there is not a safe Try the Real World Situation for teens to try before they hit the real thing. This book helps some.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for educators that want children to succeed., August 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Teenagers Preparing for the Real World (Paperback)
Chad Foster relates to students in ways that we can only dream. Chad brings his own experience from the real world into the world of teenagers. He has spoken at three of our middle schools and our students have read his book with great interest. Chad provides a great service that we do not offer in our schools, true life experiences that the children can understand. If you have a mentor program, this is a must read. Students learn how and why they should communicate with other people. Chad uses life experiences from Presidents to Movie Stars to get the attention of the reader. His ability to get the kids to read this book without puttting it down is extrodinary. A must for any schools reading list.

5.0 out of 5 stars I met Chad Foster, October 2, 2002
By
This review is from: Teenagers Preparing for the Real World (Paperback)
I met Chad Foster about 5 years ago when he visted my school. He's a great guy and his book is excellent. He created the playground tar that they used to put in all of the McDonnalds Fast Food Resturants. He also spoke of keeping great contacts of people no matter what and he was inspiration to me for those few words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every teen should read this book!, March 2, 2008

I used to give this book to high school graduates but they really should read it in 9th grade. Its SO easy to read, not preachy, practical & amusing. Reading it, you feel like you know Chad Foster personally. I in my mid 40's (much belatedly) started incorporating his ideas about starting up conversations with strangers. I have a friend who teaches HS who actually did read this book to her class on Life Skills, which is how I heard about it. I even recommended it to 2 people on our local school board, unfortunately to no avail, but I will not give up. Its short enough and easy to read that a good reader could read it cover to cover in 1 1/2 hours. It covers networking, career choices, personal responsibility, knowing yourself. Wow. In such a small book, no less!

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical advice for pre-teens and teenagers, June 21, 1998
I have personally met Chad Foster and seen his presentation for 5th Graders at my school. He was very motivating for the students and made an impression on them about their future. The book is easy reading and very easy to follow his advice. My teenagers really enjoyed his book and still refer to some of his advice after reading the book several years ago.
