Bought this today for my drum obsessed 3.5 year old and after playing with it for less than 5 minutes the snare drum head is torn. Wish I would have seen the previous review before I bought it.

The drum head and tambourine are horrible quality, with little durability beyond a piece of construction paper. I bought my 5 year-old one for christmas, and both heads were broken after only a few minutes. I repaired them, only to have them break again in a different place.

My twin daughters got this toy as a birthday present, the tambourine lasted 2 minutes....the paper got torn up after the first beat. I had to return it to the store....luckily they refunded in cash and not replaced by another set....horrible quality

When I purchased this set I could tell immediately it's not a toy to be dumped in the toy box with the rest of the toys. Yes, the drum head is a heavy weight paper and will tear if hit hard or stabbed. I like the drum because it sounds great and has the feel of a real drum (drumb sticks actually bounce); instead of just being a hard piece of plastic, as with toy drums. This is a set of musical instruments NOT a toy. My 2.5 year old loves the set.

I got this as a toy for my son. He adored the whole set and loved playing each instrument. However one of the maraca heads broke off the day we took it out of the box...the next a few days later. After a week of playing the drums (with the provided drumsticks) the head ripped on one side. The other side ripped a few days later, followed quickly by the entire thing falling apart.

I am loath to return the toy because my son still loves the jingle bells and the other parts that haven't fallen apart, but I want a replacement drum and maracas that won't break within minutes. I am going to contact the company to see what they say, if the stand behind their product at all. If not I suppose I will return the whole thing.

I will post an update after I speak to the company.

Update: the company sent me replacement drumheads...however, they also broke very rapidly. They are made of paper, which is not going to stand up to drumsticks. No replacements for the maracas.

Bought this for my grandson. Like another reviewer - the drum top tore as soon as he tried to play with it. One of the maracas fell apart a short time later. Why did they make this of such poor quality?
