Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Why were there no great cookbooks for kids? We asked that questions and answered it with “Teens Take Over The Kitchen To Cook Italian Treats”. This is a cookbook for teens, and supervised pre-teens, or any beginner cooks, who like good food and want to cook it with their family and friends, but may not know how to do it because no one ever showed them. “Teens Take Over” shows you how to do it even if you have never cooked a meal before. The cookbook is published as an easy-to-navigate CD ROM in which each recipe is separately printable.

CD ROM for Windows and Macintosh OS8 and higher.

From the Author

Our family loves to cook together but when the two teenage girls among us were leaning how to cook it was clear that cookbooks are not written for kids (or for most any people who do not already know how to cook). So, we wrote one ourselves and want to share it with others. Step-by-step methods along with funny recipe titles and pictures make this a fun book to look at and use. We put it on CDROM to make it even easier for kids to browse through recipes, then they can print out just what they like. Finally, a cookbook for families who want to enjoy terrific home cooked meals while teaching kids how to do it.

Everyone knows that children and teenagers love to eat, but hardly anyone realizes how happily kids love to cook. The problem is that too many cookbooks are written for Julia Childs. The father-daughter team of Charles and Gianna Marotta have solved the problem by writing a cookbook filled with recipes written so clearly that kids can use it to cook fast, healthy, and delicious Italian meals.

There are 100 recipes in this ebook, divided into these categories: Appetizers; Soups; Pasta; Meatless Main Dishes; Main Dishes With Meat; Main Dishes With Chicken; Main Dishes With Seafood; Pizza & Dough; Meatless Side Dishes; and Desserts. The clever names of the dishes will make you and your children laugh: Fowl Balls is a chicken soup with meatballs; Informed Sauces is a collection of various sauces; and The Loin King is an Italian tenderloin steak.

It's always a pleasure to review a good cookbook: the vegetarian food I tested and tasted turned out marvelously. You won't have any trouble navigating this CD: the ebook is well-organized into categories, and also in a master index. Each recipe is rated with one to four stellini -- star-shaped pastas -- to indicate how easy or difficult it is to make the dish.

Written in HTML, the ebook can be read on all computers with a web browser. If you can't bring your computer into the kitchen, then you can choose to print any of the recipes with an easy click on the "print" button.

Every child should experience the joy of cooking. Not only for the pure fun of it, but because working together to prepare a meal is an activity that brings parents and kids closer together.

Teens Takeover The Kitchen is a great way to introduce children to the pleasures of preparing food, and the fun of working together with adults. And you might even begin to break the junk-food habit, by substituting fatty mass-produced burgers with nourishing and scrumptious Italian meals.
