Good Boost for TeenAge Money Matters, May 29, 2008
This review is from: Teenvestor.Com: The Practical Investment Guide for Teens and Their Parents (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book. To me it's not so much about investing as the philosphy of earning money (odd jobs around the house or neighborhood) and then what to do with it. Life has to be more than simply expecting an entitlement (a.k.a. allowance) and stashing it away until the desired level is reached. This book helps people step into the creative flow at an early age, and I applaud the authors for what they have done.

Teenvestor.com is out-of-date, September 23, 2007
This review is from: Teenvestor.Com: The Practical Investment Guide for Teens and Their Parents (Paperback)
It is unfortunate that I find this book while trying to get my daughter interested in how money really works and an understanding what investing is. I say unfortunate because I went to http://www.teenvestor.com and became very disappointed. The first thing I noticed on the home page is some sort of stock index. One that seems to be an index of teenvestor.com stocks. Sounds reasonable. The problem is the quote is from mid 2006 - almost 1 1/2 years old!!! Clicking on it still showed the same 2006 figures. Further investigation shows the copyright date of the website to be 2003!
This is very disappointing. I cannot stress enough how schools totally ignore financial matters when it comes to educating our children. No wonder our children graduate college only to be immediately drowned in debt.
I very much would have enjoyed purchasing a book like this if the relevant website was up-to-date. Being up-to-date would tell me they are serious about the book and want our children to succeed.
This does not appear to be the case.
