5.0 out of 5 stars Kawaii!, August 17, 2011

This review is from: Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi: More Than 40 Itty-Bitty Minis to Knit, Wear, and Give (Paperback)
I just got this yesterday and I love it! I have her other bookKnitting Mochimochi: 20 Super-Cute Strange Designs for Knitted Amigurumi and they are both wonderful. This one has designs that are way tinier, though! It's so worth it. Her designs are adorable, well-done, and just too cute. The book itself is clever and visually pleasing, the directions are simple, and there are a lot of how-to pictures. I wish she had more books out!

5.0 out of 5 stars More fun, easy to follow patterns, August 20, 2011

This review is from: Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi: More Than 40 Itty-Bitty Minis to Knit, Wear, and Give (Paperback)
I was so excited when I heard another Mochimochi Land book was being released, I preordered it, and I'm not disappointed. It's worth mentioning - because some people might not feel the same about it as I do - but some of the patterns in the book have been released previously in PDFs. I don't mind that at all, it gives me a hard copy of some patterns I already had in PDF form, along with new patterns.

There are plenty of new patterns too. I decided to knit the tiny mermaid first, and was surprised how quick and easy it was to knit. It had been a little while since I last knit a Mochimochi Land pattern (been busy with other things) so I had forgotten just how fun these little things are to make. One of my favorite things about Anna Hrachovec's patterns is how clear the instructions are, even for things like detail embroidery, and it's nice the instructions in this book are in keeping with that. Definitely recommend this book :)

5.0 out of 5 stars So much cuteness!, September 4, 2011

This review is from: Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi: More Than 40 Itty-Bitty Minis to Knit, Wear, and Give (Paperback)
I love this book! I've already made five little toys, and have countless requests pouring in :) Well written, good illustrations, and it includes all the little basics and background knowledge for the beginning knitter. The patterns are easy, if a little fiddly (but that is to be expected when working on something so small...) and they take such a small amount of yarn and time. There are so many cute patterns! This book has rocketed to my favorite knitting book in the couple of weeks I have owned it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Teeny Tiny Fun!, October 2, 2011
This review is from: Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi: More Than 40 Itty-Bitty Minis to Knit, Wear, and Give (Paperback)
Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi supports the fact that "everything is more fun in miniature." The idea started out as a whim by the author to see how many tiny things she could knit in a month. Her tiny creations delighted her blog visitors and she was on a roll after that! Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi has a wide variety of creations: animals, food, nature, people, holiday designs and more. I noticed that all of the minis in MochiMochi land have eyes, which just makes them extra cute!

All of the projects actually use very simple knitting techniques and are each designed to be completed in less than one hour with a very small amount of yarn. If you are comfortable with double pointed needle knitting, then the projects should be no problem for you. But if you are new to knitting, there are complete, illustrated instructions in the back of the book that teach the basics for novices. After becoming familiar with those skills, you should be able to move on and try the tiny toys. The book also explains how to make the patterns larger or even smaller (and cuter!).

All the projects are adorably presented in charming settings, with witty and humorous descriptions of each. For instance, tiny corn is "genetically modified for cuteness" and the mini forest "can't see itself for the trees!" There are delightful little reindeer, ghosts, bunnies, and even a barrel full of monkeys with teensy bananas! A chapter in Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi has suggestions for what you can do with these little delights, from tree ornaments to jewelry, which give you the opportunity to cute-ify all kinds of things!

5.0 out of 5 stars Book full of fun quick-knitting projects!, September 17, 2011

I ordered the digital version of this book and I absolutely love it! I've only had it a little over a week and have already knitted 4 items! All of them are cute, quick to knit, and a perfect way to use up little bits of yarn.

The book calls for fingering weight yarn and also lets you know you can knit them at other gauges. I knitted most of my projects at worsted weight - so adorable!

So far I've knitted the mermaid (love the seashell bikini top), the fish with bubbles, and some cupcakes.

Thanks for all the clever knitting ideas!

I own Anna's first book "Knitting Mochimochi" So I bought this out of loyalty to her cute, Japanese-Esq, anthropomorphic style. Definitely a hit! Everything is super fun and adorable. Not to mention most of these tiny knits take about an hour or so to knit them up. Great for making little gifts or magnets or what-have-you. I definitely recommend this to any knitter interested in Amigurumi, even if you have never knitted before she teaches you in a very simple way so you can be making little toys in no time. Love it!

I've made two of these tiny creations so far and everyone loves them. Good clear directions and illustrations. I did move up to size 3 DP needles and that worked fine. I'll be coming back to this book over and over as time passes.

We even put a little bird on the Christmas tree.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much fun!, September 17, 2011

This review is from: Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi: More Than 40 Itty-Bitty Minis to Knit, Wear, and Give (Paperback)
I had the good fortune to take a class from the author and she showed us an advance copy of the book. I bought it the day it came out and love it. The author explains well and includes a lot of detail. The photos are very clear and make completing the projects easier. I am just an intermediate knitter and have made three projects successfully. The projects in the book are varied and very cute.

The projects were given as gifts (one made into a ring, one an ornament, and one for a dollhouse) and were fun to give. The recipients were all very pleased. Knitting tinies is a fun break from large projects and they make really good gifts. They are charming and make people feel special, but take surprisingly little time to knit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like Eating Potato Chips, February 13, 2012

This review is from: Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi: More Than 40 Itty-Bitty Minis to Knit, Wear, and Give (Paperback)
Knitting these little toys is like eating potato chips.. you can't stop at one.. you will want to keep going and going. At first I was not sure what to think when I tried knitting one of these tiny knits. I started with "Knitting Mochimochi" Anna's other book and was instantly hooked on knitting human beans. These little things are a lot of fun to make and don't fret if you don't have really thin yarn, go up to a size 2 or 3 needle and use a thicker yarn.. the items are still really cute and really small.. just not quite as small as when you use a size 1 needle. I have made these with up to a size 4 needle with a worsted weight yarn.. and the items are still cute and tiny. My 7 year old loves them.
