Paws for Murder...
The man who threw his cat at his dentist...

Doug Perkins, his partner Gerry and their cat, Pandora, have one job to do: spin gaffes into gold. But this cozy little London PR agency--a better environment for Pandora than profits--is about to get involved in a disastous affaire dentaire..Endicott Zayle, dentist to the rich and famous--as well as to Doug and Gerry--has a problem with royal proportions. He just killed a beautiful women with an experimental anesthetic. Or did he?

By the time Doug arrives on the scene, the corpse is up and walking around--and someone else is dead instead. With Endicott losing his grip, and a line of women all claiming personal interest in the deceased, scandal is afoot. And so is a second dose of murder. For Doug, Perry and Pandora, making this mess look good will mean sorting through an old man's madness, a young man's foolishness, and a tooth-and-nail case of cat fighting--no holds barred...

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Those who dread the dentist's chair will crack a smile at this uproarious fourth and final volume in Babson's Perkins & Tate series. Here the public relations team is called in to cap the bad press that is sure to follow when a dentist who attends to celebrity smiles finds a top model dead in his chair. Perkins & Tate slog on valiantly in aid of a dental practice that has gone bonkers. A hilarious cast of characters on the premises includes an inventor of a new anesthetic, a mad former Army dentist who believes that both World Wars are yet to be won and who, accordingly, gives orders to all and sundry, a sadistic driller who aims for the neck, and a waiting-room full of celebrities brought together by faculty grins and personal designs on the dentist. This is a Mad Hatter's tea party in the dental surgery, with murder thrown in and a Siamese cat taking the role of the Dormouse, pouncing at opportune moments. Sparkling comedy.

From School Library Journal

YA-- Fans of Babson's mysteries will find this comparable to her other novels, as it's a witty, often wildly ridiculous whodonit in the dentist's office. As usual, her pet sleuths bumble about with some serious thought; here they manage to unravel the story behind the death of their dentist's partner. They are aided by a very strange host of characters who occupy the waiting room and provide a humorous dialogue that is decidedly British.

4.0 out of 5 stars Breezy Mystery of a Death in a Dental Chair, May 3, 2004
Marion Babson writes bright and breezy mysteries with a cozy feel. In this case the PR firm of Perkins and Tate faces the true test of public relations-- putting a favorable spin on the death of a public figure in their dentist's chair. Surrounded by a plethora of eccentrics including Malcolm-- the dentist's father, who still thinks a world war is going on-- I or II, he isn't picky; the dentist's wife who was not so much stolen by the dentist's partner as barrowed; and the dentist himself who is quite single minded when it comes to things dental.

This is is a fun and not particularly serious novel that will happily pass an hour or two.
