On video (below), Author Timothy James Dean shows you the real man-eating monster that inspired this epic. "MOVE OVER MOBY-DICK, JAWS AND JURASSIC - HERE COMES THE FATHER!" TEETH is rip-roaring adventure set in the South Pacific. Johnny is a 20-year-old American soldier sent on assignment into New Guinea's heart of darkness. But there Johnny first confronts "the Father," a 30-foot, 4,000 pound, man-eating crocodile. The giant reptile is both feared and worshiped by the natives of the Big River. In their first face-off, the Father kills a man and Johnny wounds it. From that instant on, the Father hunts him relentlessly, until the heart-pounding final confrontation on the beaches of the South Pacific. With Johnny is Footy, a colorful Aussie, and their Japanese prisoner. Katsu has only one thing left - his family heirloom samurai sword. The three run directly for the Valley of the Cannibals - home to the most bloodthirsty headhunters on the entire island of New Guinea. The lovely Gwyn saved Johnny's life, but to have a chance with her, he must meet her challenge to rediscover his heart. Meet real people like Supreme Commander, General Douglas MacArthur and gunboat skipper (and future US President) Jack Kennedy. The story takes place as America is about to unleash a horrific new weapon of mass destruction against Japan. READER RAVES ... More About the Author

MY LIFE IS LIKE MY NOVEL - EXTREME ADVENTURE

Hello! A warm welcome to the virtual fireside. I invite you to read my novel, "TEETH." This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

I was born on wheels. I'd lived in six countries by the time I was eighteen, and had traveled across several continents and oceans. I've kept going ever since. But let me tell you how my novel, "TEETH" came about - the first tome in "The South Pacific Trilogy."

As a boy, I spent a formative decade on the savage island of New Guinea (just north of Australia). My parents were missionaries, but they might as well have been Margaret Mead and Mark Twain: my young life was a blend of exotic anthropology and river adventures. I grew up with warriors who were once headhunters and cannibals. I thrived outdoors, camping in the jungle, and floating down the river that runs through it.

Back in North America, I studied Creative Writing at the graduate level with the goal of becoming a novelist. But I got sidetracked into an enthralling career in television. Originally, I was hired as Head Writer, and eventually Executive Producer, of an edgy prime-time TV show in a metropolitan market. There, I rubbed shoulders with movie and television stars, recording artists, and heads of state. It was a fantastic introduction to life in the media.

During that time, I produced an interview with James Clavell, movie writer and producer, and best-selling author of a slew of South Pacific novels - "Shogun," "Gai Jin," "Tai Pan," "Nobel House," and more. James loved the Asian-themed interview we staged, and we became friends. He was kind enough to read some of my writing that would one day grow into my book. He told me I had talent, never to quit, and perdition on the naysayers! I never forgot that.

I went on to found my own production studio, and crafted documentary and adventure programs all over our planet. Highlights you could have seen include "The Toughest Break" on spinal cord injury, with the late movie star Christopher (Superman) Reeve (after he, tragically, became the world's most famous quadriplegic), seen on Discovery Health, PBS, and international broadcasters. I made "Return of the Dolphin" for Discovery with legendary rocker, Bryan Adams, and went to London to record the narration. I spent three weeks in the Canadian wilderness on a wild whitewater ride down the Fraser River, to shoot "Thunder in the Canyon," a tribute to the intrepid explorer, Simon Fraser. And then there was my adventure series, "Aqua Planet," that traveled the globe for several years, and put me underwater with giant sharks and beautiful women - from Australia to Cuba.

In the mid-2000s, I moved to the beach in Mexico to fully embrace my dream of becoming a novelist. I'm thrilled to present you with the result - "TEETH - The Epic Novel with Bite." To see in print is the fulfillment of a life goal.

Today I'm hard at work on the 2nd volume in the trilogy - "SKINS."

I look forward to the kind of relationship with you that is only possible in this Internet Age. In order to stay in touch - to know first about new books before anyone else - and to be in the running for free draws, take a second to like my page:

5.0 out of 5 stars Teeth is not just an adventure - it is a love story, November 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Teeth is full of so many exciting twists and turns. It will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Get lost in one conflict after another: the Japanese and the Americans, American and Aussie Allies, a man and a woman, inner conflict of a boy soldier, a huge crocodile and a man, Christianity and cannibalism. You can have them all!

Mr. Dean's level of detail and knowledge of the culture, time and setting compare only to Michener in accuracy, and almost addicting enticement. He creates a breathtakingly real look at what WWII must have been like in the Pacific arena. Fact is married with fiction in this startlingly, realistic chronicle of events. It is not for the faint at heart, but it is also for the tender hearted - a contradiction of the soul.

I truly can' t wait for the next volume to come out! I laughed, I cried, but most of all I just couldn't put this novel down! When is the movie coming out?

5.0 out of 5 stars EXTREME AUTHOR, EXTREME ADVENTURE, November 24, 2009
Length:: 2:38 Mins

"Great action!" "A masterpiece!" "Favorite book of all time!" "A love story."
Author Timothy James Dean was born on wheels, and has been traveling all his life. In this clip, Timothy reviews his book for you. He's also an award-winning TV-maker, who shot documentaries all over the world. He displays the body of the REAL "Father of the Crocodiles," a man-eating monster from World War II that inspired his novel. He shows you a killer shark eating underwater, so close you could touch it. And he takes you to the savage South Pacific to introduce his friends - the cannibals and headhunters he grew up with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pack your bags & gas up the car--you're going for a wild ride!, June 8, 2010
This review is from: Teeth - The Epic Novel with Bite (The South Pacific Trilogy, Volume 1) (Paperback)
When you pick up this book, be sure your bags are packed and there's plenty of gas in the car because you're going to be taken for a wild ride!

Author Timothy Dean weaves us an epic tale that defies strict category guidelines and will entertain and delight readers of all genres. Part true-to-life monster tale and part historical tome, this novel taught me as much as it thrilled.

I recommend it wholly to World War II history buffs, Wartime Paramedic, Nursing and medical buffs, Jungle Culture/Indigenous Peoples buffs, Japanese, Australians, Americans and New Guineans... and let's not forget the people who like to read monster tales such as Jurassic Park and Jaws. The Father is the it-could-really-happen giant crocodile in this story who is always hungry!

A curious and fully satisfying aspect of this story is that Timothy not only allows us access to the point of view of the various main characters, but he lets us into the head of the Father. From the croc's birth and as he shows up as an adult in various scenes, we often get to know what he is feeling, what he experiences, and what his reptilian brain thinks of these humans who are so dangerous yet so fragile at the same time. I've never been inside a croc/monster's head until now, and Timothy has me totally convinced that he has channeled this mythical beast!

A great time, an adventure from your reading chair--you cannot be disappointed.
