This remote control was perfect for my 94-year-old mother. She had a minor stroke which affected her already poor memory. I often found her sitting in silence in her apartment because she forgot how to operate her CD player and her standard 57,000 button TV remote control. I searched the local stores for a VERY SIMPLE remote control but could not find it so I was very excited to see that Amazon had this 6-button remote. It's been perfect! It was easy to set it up to use with Mom's TV and she's had no trouble reading and using the large, lighted buttons. Get this remote for your elderly parent or relative! It's exactly what Mom needed. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't mind having it for myself! Now, I just have to find a simple CD player!

This is a very easy product to operate if you just have to work the tv, and don't have a cable box or satellite hookup. Hubby has brain cancer and has trouble using his hands, as well as trouble figuring out which buttons to push on the remote. This seemed like a great solution, but we had a satellite hookup and the remote doesn't work with them. Now have cable through the internet, still with a box, and the remote doesn't work with it either. I wish this company would come up with a similar remote that would work with our "cable box", because the simplicity and design of this remote are wonderful. And it was easy to set up to work the tv--directions on package.

This remote is easy to program. Just put it in program mode (push two buttons together for a few seconds) then push one button repeatedly until the tv turns off. Then push another button to save the settings. It is simple to use and the writing is large and easy to see.

I bought this remote for elderly friends who were getting extremely frustrated with the complex remote on their new TV. It turned out the small buttons quickly resulted in one of them hitting one for some option other than changing channels, etc. As a result their new TV was frequently getting locked up until someone could go over and get it out of whatever function was stopping them from simply watching TV.

Once I set up the Tek Pal for them (quick and dead simple) all their problems with the TV went away. Almost every time I see them now they remark how happy they are with it and thus their new TV.

The Tek Pal does exactly what it says it does.

I bought this 6 months ago for my 91 year-old mother. It was actually easy to set up, and the design is perfect for older people with memory and/or sight problems. But with my unit, all of the buttons have to be pressed just so, in just the right place. You wind up searching for the "sweet spot" 5 or 6 times just to go "channel up" or "channel down". It is very fruntrating to use this item, so I'm going to try another brand.

My 90 year old mother has trouble working the remote that came with her TV. She's always accidentally hitting the sleep button,causing it to shut off after half an hour or so or she hits the menu button etc. Because it is an Olevia TV I've had trouble finding a universal remote that will work with it. I wanted one as simple as possible. I found the Tek remote online but it did not tell if it would work with an Olevia TV so I called the company and spoke to a nice man who said he would find out and call me back. About an hour later he called and said that yes, it would work with her TV. So I ordered it. When it came I was so happy because it's a great size with large buttons that light up and also because it has very few buttons. Just the up and down volume, up down channels, mute and the on/off button. I followed the directions to program it to her TV but it would not work. I tried several times, my husband also tried. I sent an e-mail to the company about it,hoping that maybe they could tell me how to make it work, since they had told me it WOULD work with her TV. That was about two weeks ago and I still have not heard from them.

So, while it appears that their product is great for senior citizens with poor eye-sight, it isn't doing THIS senior citizen any good. I'm unhappy about that and also wondering why the guy told me it WOULD work with an Olevia TV.Tek Pal Remote Control

I bought this remote for my Grandmother who lives in a nursing home. She has Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Every time I would visit her I'd have to figure out how to reprogram her remote because she always finds that one button that clears the memory for the remote. I bought her this remote and she loves it, and better yet, can't un-program it. She says this is the best gift she's ever gotten and tells everyone who comes to see her. This is the best 20 bucks I've ever spent.

A must buy for older folks with memory loss! Two minutes max to setup. Works great on an anolog set with cable.
One suggestion..label the VOL + - as loud soft. For an 87 year old even the plus and minus signs are confusing.

I care for an elderly gentleman with Alzheimer's disease. He stopped watching television because of the difficulty dealing with the remote. I've tried other remotes but somehow he would erase it's settings. This remote isn't so easy to de-program. It's great. Thanks.

I didn't see the fine print, this only works on a TV that isn't hooked up to cable provider. Wasted my money.
