I'm using these with a 3M #7503 half face-piece respirator while doing a retro-fit of my attic insulation. 40-year-old loose-fill fiberglass infested with squirrel and chipmunk droppings, sunflower husks, acorn remnants etc.

I feel much safer using a well-fitting respirator with replaceable filters instead of the various rubberband-style masks. Bought the 2-pair pack for economy but you can also buy a single pair -- fyi, there are lots more Amazon reviews on this filter under the single-pair item.

There is a lot of info on filters and govt-jargon from OSHA & NIOSH that can overwhelm a non-expert like me. Someone on the single-pair product page gave these filters a 1 star review which I thought was unwarranted. So after some research, here is some of what I posted there, hope it helps you make the right choice...

The "P" doesn't refer to particulate, it means the filter media is strongly-resistant to oil ("oil-Proof"). The other types are R for oil-Resistant and N for Not.

Regarding size, particulate filters remove very, very small particles: smaller than 0.3 microns in diameter and that is just the median size of the particles in the test. For comparison, smoke has particles about 2 microns in diameter.

"100" means the filter is removing 99.97% of the particles. Compare that to filter types of, say, N99 and N95 which remove 99% and 95%, respectively. But all three types remove the vast majority of very, very small particles; 100-type filters remove the most over the duration of the test.

This filter gives "relief against nuisance levels of organic vapors". But it's not for use in high concentrations.

I prefer the 2097 versus the 2091 because with the 2097 you can rarely smell odors, which helps your work productivity. Who wants to work in a stinky environment for more than 5 minutes anyways?

I muck my horse stalls out myself and these are great for keeping the fine particles from the bedding and hay out! I have chronic bronchitis and these do a great job!

I can't smell any of the welding gases and particles while using these filters (as long as the mask is making a good seal). I have worn the first pair for over a few hours. Seems like they are doing the job of protecting my lungs!

These particulate filters offer a high level protection. I have recently used them while grinding steel. The filters allow no odor nor dust to penetrate through into the mask. I highly recommend these filters.

I own a welding shop and these work great to protect the employees from breathing in the welding smoke and grinding dust.

I work in a woodshop and I switch back and forth between these and the vapor cartridges. These are much nicer for dealing with dust because they are a fraction of the weight of the vapor cartridges. When you wear a respirator as much as I do, you don't want several pounds of weight strapped to your face. The lighter filters allow you to loosen the straps without loosing the seal on your face. Some people ask me why I don't use the simple dust masks which are even lighter, I always have to explain that the 3m 7500 series mask I use is more comfortable and provides a superior seal compared to those disposable dust masks. These are also P100 rated meaning they filter 99.97% of the dust compared to P95 which filters 95%. Over time I have noticed the other guys in the shop have switched over to these for dust filtration using their 3m 7500s. These will also work on the 3m 6000 series mask.

Excellent p100 filters. Not only do they block most particulates, the filters themselves do not impede breathing. It also helps block out nuisance odors from working treated wood (formaldehyde) and paints (voc). Not smelling the odor does not mean you have fresh air.
