Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

These six episodes form the second sequel to the 1975 Tekkaman TV series. Ten years after the end of the first sequel, SK Tekkaman Blade, Earth is still at war with the Radam. The only effective weapon against these aliens are the Space Knights, who fight in armored mecha suits. Klutzy blonde Yumi Francois is the newest trainee, and a computer accident gives her the power to use the latest super-weapon, Reactor Voltekker. This power feeds into the standard rivalries and frustrated attractions that occur among the Space Knights between high-tech battles. The key conflict pits D-Boy, the hero of the previous series, against Dead End, the suicidal transvestite survivor of a group of Tekkaman rebels. Blade II feels like a longer plot that was severely compressed: the story ends before it really begins. Unrated; suitable for ages 16 and up: Nudity, violence (mostly between robots), alcohol use, sexual innuendoes. --Charles Solomon

3.0 out of 5 stars A Big Disappointment, November 19, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Tekkaman Blade II - Complete Collection (DVD)
I was so looking forward to this DVD. I watched as much of the Teknoman series as possible until it was taken off the air. In Tekkaman Blade II, I found the characters to be highly unsympathetic, espcially Yumi who seemed to be endlessly giggling or suffering the angst of unrequited love. The only 3 characters I cared about were David, Dead End, and D-Boy. The original series drew me in with a fasinating storyline and believeable characters; I cared what happened to the characters, whether they lived or died. I was crushed when the series was taken off the air and am still searching for a place to buy it. So, in short, if you are thinking of buying this because you loved the original series, don't. In this case the sequel does NOT live up to the original.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tekkaman Blade 2 Rocks, June 1, 2005
By
This review is from: Tekkaman Blade II - Complete Collection (DVD)
Ok since I've read the other reviews I thought I write one, and make things a lot clearer.

First off the reason why Tekkaman Blade 2 is so different from Teknoman is because it's the original UNCUT version. And since it's the original version - all of the character names and even the title is different.

Teknoman as most people would call it was once on UPN many years ago. Teknoman is a awfully EDITED version of Tekkaman Blade. Tekkaman Blade is the original title. Also many names of the characters were changed for the edited version. When Tekkaman Blade was edited to Teknoman- many footage was edited out. This ruined the show. Tekkaman Blade wasn't ment to be edited.

Tekkaman Blade 2 stayed to the original, and is by far 100 % better then Teknoman. Or I should say Tekkaman Blade and Tekkaman Blade 2 are better then Teknoman.

Sadly there is no way to see Tekkaman Blade (Teknoman) uncut. So there's only Tekkaman Blade 2.

2.0 out of 5 stars Director being lazy, don't buy., July 16, 2010
This review is from: Tekkaman Blade II - Complete Collection (DVD)
The series expand from the first generation of Teknoman, which was really good. The problem is that it is very short. Their biggest enemy is one Teknoman that defeated Blade and it concentrates on that one person. There is a lot of room for improvements. Seen it once and 9/10, I won't see again, it's more of a Japanese film with this one. Characters are goofy and do goofy stuff which didn't have that in Teknoman. If you're a Teknoman fan, go for it, but if you love Teknoman with a good story, to hell with this one.
