I had just read reviews for this video a few days ago, and I couldn't believe the bad rep. it was getting. I've seen this movie and it had good animation, music, and a kickass storyline. I'm not saying it is the best movie in the world but it deserves more credit than people give it and I think the bad reviews that people placed online are kidish because they all say this;"The movie was bad because it didn't show all the characters":()OH BOO HOO(),WELL for one thing the story was based on a main character and not 17PEOPLE!because if it had 17people, than the movie won't have a main character and the storyline will be jacked up and won't make any sense at all. The plot in tekken was better than i thought it would be. Also it was creative and thoughtful unlike most animes. Plus the dialogue and effects were perfect for the movie. So people should think more now on about how good the movie was instead of how dumber they will make the movie by writting their reviews that insult it.

Over the 6-7 years I have been an anime fan, I have seen the cream of the crop, and the cream of the crap. And out of all the piles of dung that I have seen, this ranks as the king(which is truly an acomplishent seeing as how I have watched the entire thing of Tank Police series and Dragon Ball Z). Watch for 5 minutes you'll feel dizzy. Ten? Mild headache. Twenty? Spliting headache. Thirty! The walls in your home begin to melt. And if you can watch the whole thing thru? Your head and home both are inveloped into a world of nothingness(I think its the same empty void were trashed pop stars go too)! This movie is so bad it hurts to think about, so I am having a hard time finding a place begin a rant. The animation is very unbalanced; cel drawn its passible. But once you see the Computer animated seqences, you'll either laugh till it hurts or you'll be drivin to a sickness until you can't get up after you smack your head when you fall to the ground. The music is a tastless mix of songs that either suck, don't fit the scene, or combination of both. The background music isn't good nor memorable. The character development is either non-exsistent or uniteresting. And the plot is well, lets just say its about deep as a staturday morning cartoon. So in this mix, is there anyting redeming about this terrible video? Yes, there is! IT'LL GIVE YOU FEET SO FASTER THAN YOU THOUGHT IMAGINABLE! There is a reason for the title people. Abide by it. You will be a very happy customer. And I gotta stop talkting about before my head explodes!

It gives you a brief but insightful overview of the Tekken history. This could have been an excellent 2 hour piece of japanimation or the beginning of an excellent series.

I have seen this twice on cable and I tried so hard to like it, but I just couldn't. This has very little to offer in terms of story and character development. I have not played any of the games, besides Tag Tournament. The thing that prevents this from getting one star is that it is worth a couple of viewings but otherwise, stick with Akira, Princess Mononoke, and Ghost in The Shell and avoid this like the plague or if you're a fan of the games and haven't seen this, then rent it first.

This movie was great I was really impressed... I thought it'd probably suck cause it was rated pg, but it had lots of action and blood the characters were cool... they could have made it a little longer and show a little more of the rest of the characters like King and Yoshimitsu and the rest in action but it was still cool, the only thing that I'd change is the length an make it longer...Great music too!

I Bought the vhs for a buck and I want a refund.
It's possible that I saw the 'edited version', but I doubt more gore or nipples would make this anything other than a way to make a buck off impulsive fan-boys. The animation, even for its time, is third rate, Saturday morning cartoons have delivered better plots, and Keanu Reeves has delivered better philosophical dialogue. Don't bother.

UGH,
Horrible anime even by game anime standards. The dub is made worse by horrible American music that was stale when the orignal VHS was released. The story is VERY Loose on the dealings between Kazyua and Heihachi. Yoshimitsu a Tekken Favorite gets like no screen time. Stay away stay far away

This is the worst anime I have ever seen. Excessively boring character designs, nonexistent "plot", scant and boring "fight scenes" (which is really bad as it's supposed to be based off a fighting game) and a faulty decision to replace the original soundtrack, which is ADV trying to emulate the Street Fighter movie release in the worst way possible. You get the idea that they funneled the eniote budget for this film into the two CGI sequences that do NOTHING. I felt my IQ drop as I sat through this thing with hopes that it would somehow redeem itself and was ultimately disappointed. Only the word limit prevents me from fully expressing how bad this anime was.

Tekken The Movie, Does Not Do Tekken The Game, Justice.,

I was looking forward to watching this movie because I was such an avid fan of the Tekken series, produced by Namco, and for the Sony Playstation. However, when I popped it into the DVD, the disappointments started to just roll on in...
Initially, the movie seemed good. It's based on Tekken 2 for those of you who know the game series. The beginning really caught my attention, and I was waiting to see what would happen next. However, that's where it all went downhill. The movie evolves around Kazuya (a fighter), and his quest to seek out his father Heihachi in a tournament called "The Tekken". There are subcharacters like Jin Kazama, Nina Williams, and Lei Wulong who do play some small roles. However, that's about it. There is no real character development here. Basically, the animation is subpar, the story just drags on, and the music is weak. If you are a fan of some of the other characters like Law, Paul, King, Bruce, or Baek, forget it. Their main purpose is to just get beat up by the more "prominent" characters. In the world of Tekken (the game), every character is almost worthy of a movie themselves. I was quite amazed by how they attempted to fill all those unique personalities into this failure they call Tekken - The Motion Picture. Okay, if you must see it, borrow/rent it only! Do not actually buy it!

Worse than being on the receiving end of a Ganryu bellyflop,

I'll get straight to the point...This anime [is bad]! I would rather suffer a hundred Rising Demon uppercuts to the groin than have to watch this movie again. The movie focuses on Kazuya's quest for revenge against his father, Heihachi. Instead of unleashing the Devil inside him and laying waste to Heihachi's stronghold, Kazuya decides to enter the Tekken Tournament and fight his way to his father. The main thing I don't like about this movie is that they only hint at the presence of the Devil Gene. I would have liked to have seen that aspect developed more. One of the most ridiculous aspects of the movie is Heihachi's plan to destroy the world and rebuild it in his image. Honestly, I never saw the Heihachi in this movie capable of such a feat. He's supposed to be a no-holds-barred bad guy, but they make him seem like an incapable [weakling]. There are a few little sub-plots, but-like the main plot-they go nowhere. One such sub-plot involves Jack-2 (who I can't stand, by the way) trying to cure that little girl who's always riding on his shoulder in the game. With the help of Lei Wu-Long, Jack-2 infiltrates Heihachi's laboratories to enlist some doctor's help in curing the girl. Jack-2 gets...destroyed close to the end of his mission and whether or not the girl is healed is anyone's guess. My main gripe with this flick is the dubbing job. Most of the voices don't fit the characters. I know this is not unusual for most animes, but it seems like the makers of this movie went out of their way to make the voices as annoying as possible. Kazuya sounds less like a Japanese business tycoon possed by the devil and more like an American body-builder with a fourth grade education education. The animation is mediocre at best and none of the fights were very interesting. What's even more disappointing is the fact that many of the characters from the Tekken videogame series don't even get to fight. They serve as nothing more than background fodder while the more prominent characters fight dinosaurs. Dinosaurs?! Why-with the dozens of characters to appear in the games-would there be a need to fight dinosaurs? If you can, rent this first. I wouldn't even say that die-hard Tekken fans will like this. I am a die-hard Tekken fan and I was extremely disappointed with this movie. |
