Product Description

Mini Cole Jaw Set is for the SuperNova 2, G-3 and the Midi Chuck. Design for use on mini-lathes. Minimal 8" dia., opens to 10". Space the 8 rubber stoppers in any of 8 diameter positions on the face of the collet plates to finish the bottom of bowl. For larger bowls the stoppers may grip from the inside as the chuck expands outward. Any of your own custom made wooden plates may be applied. Manufacturer recommends not to exceed 800 RPM with the Mini Cole Jaw Set.

Technitool's mini cole jaw set is just about the perfect answer for finishing up the bottom of smaller bowls and other turnings. I was sorta surprised that the jaws were aluminum and not the 'traditional' polished steel that my other Technitool jaws are, but since they are 'outside' of the chuck's housing, I can see their reason for making them out of aluminum...less weight... I also ordered and received a complete set of spare screws and rubber stops just in case I loose or wear one out and also quite pleased with them. Now I need to order another chuck so it can be a 'dedicated' chuck for these nice little jaws... :>)

I have the G2 chuck, which is pretty small and doesn't open very wide. When combined with these jaws I can only reverse a 6-inch bowl. Unless your lathe is really tiny, I recommend that you skip these and buy the full size jaws.

Upon receiving this cole jaw set I learned that like the other reviewer, they had sent the wrong screws for connecting the jaws to the chuck. Thankfull I had ordered a set of replacement screws for my other jaws and they came at the same time that the cole jaws came. These jaws work wonderfullyand have had no problems except for the previously mentioned screws. Hopefully Teknatool will read these reviews and correct this error.
Depending on the curvature of the lip on your bowl, be sure not to over-tighten the jaws as this can cause the bowl to push away and slip out. I did this yesterday. After repositioning the bowl I was more careful and just snugged the jaws on the bowl and it turned just fine without slippage.
