Babylonian Tiles - Teknicolour Aftermath. Distort-O-Sound Records. Babylonian Tiles have been around for a long time and dare I say one of the hardest working independent bands from Southern California. Babylonian Tiles' stylized experimentalism has created not only a cult following from space, psych, and progrock enthusiasts; Amboy Dukes, early Pink Floyd, and Ultimate Spinach. Babylonian Tiles have also mesmerized the goth, or Darkwave enthusiasts also whom enjoy Bauhaus, The Chameleons, Kommunity FK, Sex Gang Children, or Christian Death. Teknicolour Aftermath is not a new album, however, it is a 2000 remastered album, although, there is one cover song 'Season of The Witch,' originally by Donovan. Also, there is a bonus track that did not make it on the Pangea import and that song is titled 'Going and Going Away.' There are twelve tracks total and four of the tracks are remastered and they are; 'Boulevard,''Reason For Grey,''Far Far Away, and 'Crystal Gavel.' This band is very tight in the studio and have a reputation of duplicating their studio sound live. Their attention to detail comes through the speakers with their masterful musicianship, craftsmanship, and interaction with one another. Bryna's voice is captivating unlike a siren, in other words, her voice is soothing, mesmerizing, and she comforts your aural pleasure with middle eastern overtones. Organ, guitar, and drums make up this incredible band and their sound is so unique, rich, and full of influences, hence, their sound is their own. Each track elegantly carries the listener to colorful places. This CD is a must for all music lovers.
