5.0 out of 5 stars A Jazz Fusion Classic!!, November 27, 2002

This album should be in everyone's collection who loves jazz fusion. "Telecommunication" set the standard and raised the bar in terms of quality and excellence. The tracks "May I have this dance?" and the haunting "House I lived in" gives the CD life. But their popular jazz anthem, "Last Summer in Rio" is what puts this CD over the top. A great CD through and through!!

5.0 out of 5 stars the best rhythm section in the world !!!, December 8, 2002

The combination of Alex Malheiros (bass)& Ivan Conti (drums)is just magic! This is a nice blend of Bossa Nova & Jazz and yes the formula works. "Estreito de Taruma" is as funky as a song can get while "Last summer in Rio" is your one way ticket to Copacabana beach. JR Bertrami changes lovely from piano to organ (another miscellaneous instrument). Buy this one, these guys deserve all the support they can get. And if you got the chance to see them live, do it! They are twice as good as on record.....believe me, what an experience that was!

5.0 out of 5 stars The most sensuous instumental this side of "Bolero", February 19, 2003

No lie: I first heard Azymuth's "Last Summer in Rio" in the early 80's and taped it off the radio. The tape lasted a number of years, then in the summer of 2000, I bought the CD. An old girlfriend borrowed it and would not give it back. Six months later, on our first evening date, I noticed that my new ladyfriend had "Telecommunications" in her CD rack. This was a sign from God, as she had earlier told me that John Coltran's album with Johnny Hartman was one of her favorites. But, her taste in music was not the only reason I married her . . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, festive and haunting!, July 20, 1999

My first Azymuth CD. 'Telecommunication' and 'Cascades' represent their best work in my opinion. Anything by this group is sure to please, but start with one of these two if your looking for a slice of heaven.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surf's Up & the Mood is Great w. Azymuth - Telecommunication, October 29, 2000

Azymuth - Telecommunication - was first turned on to me in 1982; not only is the musicianship awesome; the subtle colors, flavors, textures and overal tone will put you in a groovin' state of mind; bad day at the office? put this CD on and call in the morning; this is a band worthy for Carlos Santana to jam with; for the aging baby boomer men - seriously consider some Ashwaganda (asparagus root)and this CD to turn your love life around; blazing hot state of mind for audiophiles & surfers alike

This review is from: Telecommunication (Audio CD)
Everything these musicians do is is an enjoyable feat, and this one from the eighties is one of their best, although must of what they do ranges from "really good" to "best".

I searched various places to find this CD. Telecommunications is an awesome group. I also love the video of "Last Night in Rio" as well. If you love a group playing various instruments, I encourage you to buy the CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, January 10, 2010
This review is from: Telecommunication (Audio CD)
This is one of the greatest jazz(-funk) albums I will ever own. It sounds so incredibly fresh and sophisticated. Anyone who says he/she loves the genre must give this at least one spin. It is a highly addictive work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great record, September 27, 2008
This review is from: Telecommunication (Audio CD)
I just got turned onto this 1 a few weeks back, and I'm already addicted. I had never heard of these guys....or else i may have been a fan years ago. The whole album is very chilled, somethin to kick back & relax to. Mainly instrumentals, a couple tracks have minimal vocals included. Great album, do yourself a favor and check it out!
