This book is a first person account of the role of information and communications technology in South Korea's rapid economic development over the past three decades. The story begins with the author's arrival in Korea as a 23-year old American Peace Corps Volunteer in early 1971 and draws upon his experiences in Korea during each of the four ensuing decades. The author's second stay in Korea was as a senior Fulbright scholar, teaching in Yonsei University's Mass Communication Department and conducting research on the role of television in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He later returned to Fulbright as an administrator, spending fourteen years as Associate and Deputy Director of the Fulbright Commission in Seoul.
The author has written or co-authored numerous books, including Television's Window on the World, The Internet and Foreign Policy, Global Television and the Politics of the Seoul Olympics (with Heung-Soo Park), The Telecommunications Revolution in Korea, and (with Oh, Myung, Digital Development in Korea: Building an Information Society).
