Great music and great melodies, impossible you don't love it. Richard Davies is one of the most underrated composers of the 90's and this album is another proof more of it. Enjoy it!Gran música y grandes melodías, es imposible que no ames este disco. Richard Davies es uno de los compositores más subestimados de los 90 y este álbum es otra prueba más de ello. ¡Disfrútalo!

You should own it,

I heard 1 song on Rice Radio and I went out and searched for the CD. I found it, and a gloriously suffused warmth spread through me, something like walking through the woods with the man I loved and the dog I owned 13 years, on a spring day, large billowing cottony clouds overhead, and a promise of life spilling in front of me, rich and introspective thoughts. And I was only nineteen then. I listen to these songs, these lyrics, the guitar, and I am walking there again, in touch with a young woman who still breathes warm, and I smile as I walk on through the trees, it's late afternoon.

Truly Creative Songwriting!,

I love this gentle album. One of the little known singer-songwriter masterpieces. This is an inspired collection that will keep your heart and soul steadily recharged with its endless harmonies as it steadily grows on you.... It is one those rare albums where all songs eventually make for a greater, as if in writing a novel, united whole. Is it Australia or New Zealand, I forgot, but thank you for sharing this unique musical voice with the rest of us.

Lovely, lush, tender music,

I was a little disappointed with his first solo album - while enjoyable it was short, quirky and passed by almost before you noticed it. This time the songs are longer. This gives them time to breathe and get into the groove. The production is warmer. Surprisingly, not only is it very accessible but continues to grow on you through repeated plays. Destined to be an evergreen album in my fickle CD rotation schedule.

Another fine recording from ex-Mole, ex-Cardinal,

Eric Matthews sounded the first trumpet in the battle between the ex-members of the orchestral pop band Cardinal, but Davies more than returns the serve with this, his second solo album. The bottom line with this album is that Davies can write excellent songs. Melodies, harmonies and instrumentation. Qualities that are often overlooked in todays race for the record of the moment. Richard Davies excells in making these the foundation of excellent albums. Although he will receive little "Fanfare" for his efforts, with "Telegraph" Richard Davies once again proves he is towards the top of the pantheon when it comes to making enjoyable music.

found this after watching a flaming lips bio-doc on netflix. came to realize everything i loved about them was ronald jones and everything i didn't was wayne. i hear him all over this record. this is different and familiar, different but comfy. i'm oddly embraced. will explore davies music further. looks like ronald did only this then vaporized. wonder what music he makes now, wish i could hear it. thank you mr. davies this album is killer.
highly recommend.

When this came out, a friend played it for me and I just had to stop playing my NBA Live when "Confederate Cheerio Call" began to jam on. Deceptive yet repeated sheer melody for the ear is all I can say. The rest of the album unfolded like the warm sunny day it was. Big fan of Ronald Jones but became a huge fan of Davies and then discovered that Cardinal record for the first time afterwards. I have all of his albums now, and I love every one of them. Simply am in awe at his songwriting ability. And no, Jones's sound isn't THAT evident on this album, but you can hear his voice and his love of music throughout every one of these songs. I'm excited when Ronald Jones is excited about making music with somebody. Same with Davies-- when he partners up with someone you know it's gonna be grand. Just ask Eric Matthews. Simply one of the best and most inspirational albums ever-- for quiet, reflective moods and steady reassurance in the beauty of life.

wonderfully restrained melodicism,

at first i was disappointed with this record, but it's definitely one that creeped up on me when i wasn't expecting it. davies' way with a melody is so subtle sometimes that you don't even realise he's done anything special, but he gets maximum impact from the slightest little change in structure or melody. it sounds academic in print, but it sounds great!

Oh, Hank, when it comes to this album I've got to disagree with you and your old stinky Tank Tops.,

I'm sure everyone is as influenced by music reviews by Hank & The Tank Tops as I am! However, despite Hank & The Tank Tops' two-star review of this album (see the review somewhere below in the murky depths of the other reviews on this page), I am here to tell you "Telegraph" is a perfectly lovely affair; full of great songwriting and gentle, pitch-perfect production. It feels like a nearly seamless interface between the mind of Richard Davies and the inner ear of you. And me. A truly well-crafted, thoughtful, melancholy, softly stated handful of songs. I've loved this album since I first heard it in a music store years ago, and I always will.
