4.0 out of 5 stars Clear voice helps my hard-of-hearing mom hear clearly
This phone does what it says: It provides clear voice projection through the ear piece of the phone for the hard of hearing. I had to set it up for her but I taught her how to use it and it was very easy. Before, she had a phone given through a special senior citizen program which had an amplified sound component which was supposed to help her hear during phone...

3.0 out of 5 stars The most important features work well
I've returned this product for evaluation. The display (an LCD) has 5 contrast settings with 4 being about the best on this particular phone. If the contrast is increased to 5 then underlying blocks used to make all numbers 0-9 become visable, resembling a row of 8s. 3.0 out of 5 stars The most important features work well, May 7, 2007
This review is from: Telemergency ClearVoice 100 Emergency Telephone (Health and Beauty)
I've returned this product for evaluation. The display (an LCD) has 5 contrast settings with 4 being about the best on this particular phone. If the contrast is increased to 5 then underlying blocks used to make all numbers 0-9 become visable, resembling a row of 8s. In a well lit room the display doesn't offer adequate contrast for the elderly friend I purchased it for. I have good vision (with glasses on) and had to position the screen directly in front of my eyes and completely perpendicular or 3s and 8s were not well differentiated. This is rather disappointing when you consider the consumer target groups of the elderly and those with disabilities. The other disappointing issue with the phone is the speed dial numbers. One has to hit a toggle button changing the function of the caller ID button to phonebook, then move up to the scroll buttons. Not the greatest planning for those with poor vision and/or poor memories.

As the the essential functions of the phone - voice enhancement and emergency pendant I found little to complain about. My friend could hear me more clearly than a standard phone so I didn't have to shout. And the pendent did dial the emergency number programmed (911) and played an emergency message as promised. I did not set up the phone to dial a sequence of numbers until someone answered so I can't comment on this function. My final complaint is minor, but should be a consideration for all personal alert pendant makers. A cover that slides easily over the pendant's emergency button would be a much appreciated feature My friend once activated his personal alert system in his sleep and refused to where the pendant after that incident. Makes the pendant rather worthless if it's on a table 20 feet away if he has a heart attack in the bathroom. Again, televoice should consider the consumer target groups and correct these issues. It seems it would be rather easy to do and would create a product that family members would have confidence in during an emergency.

3.0 out of 5 stars Caution - on what the unit DOESN'T DO !, June 15, 2009
This review is from: Telemergency ClearVoice 100 Emergency Telephone (Health and Beauty)
Received the unit in good shape. After programming the unit and reading the instructions. Only after calling the help line, did I found out that the unit will NOT DIAL OUT FOR EMERGENCY by pushing the pendant button. You have to purchase a $39.95 + $8.00 S&H to get the pendant that does that OR get the Model #200. The Model 100 can't ONLY answer the phone with its pendant.

You need to be right next to the telephone set in order for the pendant to trigger an emergency call. More than 50 unobstructed feet it fails about one half of the time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clear voice helps my hard-of-hearing mom hear clearly, January 28, 2008

This phone does what it says: It provides clear voice projection through the ear piece of the phone for the hard of hearing. I had to set it up for her but I taught her how to use it and it was very easy. Before, she had a phone given through a special senior citizen program which had an amplified sound component which was supposed to help her hear during phone conversations. Well, this device did not work. My mother now has Clear Voice and she is so excited because when people call her she can hear everything that they are saying. She can communicate again because she doesn't have to pretend that she hears them. She clearly hears what you say and she can respond. She feels like she is back with the rest of the world. It is worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars "EMERGENCY" PENDANT THAT ONLY RECEIVES CALLS, December 12, 2010
This review is from: Telemergency ClearVoice 100 Emergency Telephone (Health and Beauty)
The Telemergency ClearVoice 100 Emergency Telephone is NOT an emergency system at all! The Pendant only receives incoming phone calls--IT DOES NOT PLACE A 911 CALL FROM THE PENDANT. Further, the rather worthless Pendant has a range from the base unit of only 20 feet. Many other brands have a TWO-WAY transmission range of 600 feet or more.

If this system does what you want it to do, fine. But may I suggest a cordless telephone system for a wee bit more?

Should you desire a TRUE emergency system, check out the
Freedom Alert II Newest Dect Model 600 Foot Range-FreedomAlert, available right here on Amazon.com. Now THAT is a REAL EMERGECY SYSTEM. Please trust me on this one!
