About the Author

Nataly Kelly has spent more than a decade promoting standards of quality among telephone interpreting providers and educating others about the vital role of telephone interpreting in society. She has also served as an in-person interpreter in the fields of legal, health care and conference interpreting, and is a certified court interpreter for Spanish and English. A former Fulbright scholar, she is known internationally for her research and conference presentations on topics of sociolinguistics, interpreter certification, cultural competence and interpreting quality. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

More About the Author

Nataly Kelly is the VP of Market Development at Smartling, the cloud-based enterprise translation management company. A former Fulbright scholar in Ecuador, she is a certified Spanish court interpreter.

Nataly first began working in the language services industry as a telephone interpreter in 1996. ​As a blogger for the Huffington Post, she writes about all things multilingual. A native of Mason City, Illinois, she has formally studied seven languages, has traveled to 36 countries, and has obtained higher education on three continents. She currently resides in New Hampshire. With a background in sociolinguistics, she writes and speaks about the impact of language on society at large, linking translation and interpreting to broader social, political, and economic issues.

This book is a must for every person interested in Telephone Interpreting. It includes useful roleplays to be used in class in case you are a trainer.

Nataly Kelly has written the one book about telephone interpreting that has everything you wanted to know in one handy, well-written book. I get a lot of questions about telephone interpreting, and I always recommend Kelly's book. There really isn't another resource on the market that comes close in terms of depth and thoroughness. Instead of searching the web high and low about information pertaining to telephone interpreting, I recommend that linguists who are interested in TI simply pick up this book. Highly recommended!

As an interpreter, trainer and user of interpreters I believe that Ms. Kelly's book is very useful and provides excellent insight into the field of telephonic interpretation.
