This review is from: Telephone Recording Device - Phone Recorder - Record Calls!
I bought it to record my phone calls with my Buddy on my iPod, (for use on a Podcast) The Belkin TuneTalk that I use plugs into my 80GB iPod and has a stereo mini jack. The Spyware Recording Device has a Mono mini plug. You'll need a 1/8" mono female to 1/8" stereo male adapter to use it like this. The volume is low - you can hear it, but it's low. I'm hoping I'll be able to boost the signal later with a music editing program like Cakewalk or Protools. I guess if you used a preamp it would sound better - I'm still experimenting, but, it does work.

I wanted an inexpensive way to record telephone calls especially incoming calls from people attempting sales. It's funny how quickly just suggesting recording gets these types to hang up the phone. What I really like about this is that I can plug the device directly into the microphone jack of the computer and use the windows sound recorder to record directly to my computer without having to upload. I can then easily save the important digital recording to CD, DVD, flash drive, or MP3 without any problems. I'm using the product on a VoiP system and am not losing anything. I'm sure there are some more expensive and maybe better products out there but I personally see no reason to spend hundreds of dollars on another more complicated product when this will get the job done by simply plugging in a cord. I think the problems that some are having may be related to the recorder being used or the settings thereon rather than to this device. At first my sound was really low and poor quality. Then I realized, I needed to adjust the microphone and sound effects on my sound recorder software. I definitely recommend it for people who want a way to record important conversations but not necessarily everything you do on the phone. Only downside is that as far as I know, it doesn't have a cell phone adapter which would make it perfect.

I bought this to plug my telephone into a digital recorder and my iPod. It works great. I don't like the fact that the plastic if flimsy, but it is difficult to find these items in a higher quality that will be long lasting. Overall, it works great and is an asset for anyone who does podcasts or interviews.

DO NOT BUY: It's just a wire w/RJ11 phone jack & 1/8" audio plug,

This is a rather expensive piece of wire, not a "Telephone Recording Device."
You get a phone line splitter and a cable with a RJ11 phone jack at one end and a mono 1/8" mini audio plug at the other. If only it were so easy, but without isolating or current limiting circuitry this setup is unlikely to work, and, as a bonus, could damage your recording equipment. I tried it anyway by connecting the phone line to an iMac mic input and recording with Audacity software. The result was mostly inaudible and so noisy that Audacity's noise filter was ineffective. There was also plenty of noise on the phone handset which made conversing while recording very difficult. Other photos (elsewhere online, previously on Amazon, and in the instructions that come with the product) show a box in the middle of the wire. I assume this box contained electronics of some sort. Perhaps the 5-star ratings from other buyers were for a different item.

I needed to record a particular call for futur use by plugging the device on my computer's sound card & home phone line.
When I try to record a call with Roxio media creator I have a STRONG noise which renders my thelephone recording device usless. I regret this purchase for the above type of use :(

Not sure what the problem is,
This review is from: Telephone Recording Device - Phone Recorder - Record Calls!
I'm not really sure what the problem is. I purchased this device to work on a 2 line analog phone on my desk at work. After plugging it to the phone jack and hooking the connector to my Sony Mp3 IC recorder I tried several test calls. All I got back was static. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if it just doesn't work with multiple line analog phone systems. Frustrating.

I was hoping to be able to record phone conversations for use in podcast interviews and things like that. What found was that for me, in connecting it to my computer the sound level is low and there is a noticeable hum. You can record with it, but it may need modification like adding a ferrite choke to ban the 60HZ hum that I am hearing.

This idea is so simple it works. You will be saying to yourself, "I wonder why I didn't think of that!" I had to set my recorder to dictaphone to remove the out side noises, but I can clearly record phone calls on my cordless phone with no problem.

This item works as advertised-plug it in to the phone jack adapter and run it to the recorder and that's it. There is an issue I'm having with it that I suspect is related to my phone line and not the item itself. I seem to get these random mystery recordings that consists of a short dial tone followed by what sounds like a single touch tone. It lasts about 5 seconds but it happens repeatedly over the course of a day. The only problem with this is that it eats the battery life of the recorder! Again, I have a feeling that this is more my phone line than the device, so I wouldn't let that get in the way of a purchase. It gets the job done. Simple but effective.
