A short introduction to telephone survey research is provided in Chapter 1.
Chapter 2 discusses the business of doing telephone surveys.
Chapter 3 focuses on ethics using examples from national and international professional associations.
Chapter 4 describes how to propose a telephone survey within an organization and provides examples.
Chapter 5 focuses on probability sampling methods and telephone in survey research.
Chapters 6 to 7 detail how to develop and field telephone surveys and provide example question formats and overall telephone survey instrument design.
Chapters 8 and 9 show how to do data entry and data analysis (e.g., frequencies, cross-tabulations and multiple regression).

The last chapter shows how to present your results using charts. Additional resources are recommended at the end of each chapter for those who want to specialize in telephone survey research or subfields of sampling and/or data analysis. An Index is provided as well.

Joseph J. Leon, Ph.D. and Wayne C. Brown, Ph.D. are both professor emeritus from the Behavioral Sciences Department, California State Polytechnic University Pomona. Libby O. Ruch, Ph.D. is a professor in the Department of Sociology, University of Hawaii at Manoa. Each of these authors are officers in a Streamline Surveys Inc.- A full services research firm. John Itamura is founder and president of FAQ- Hawaii, a company that specializes in telephone surveys.
