Telesteps - An Opinion based on experience,

This review is from: Telesteps 1600 250-Pound Duty Rating Aluminum Telescoping Extension Ladder, 12-1/2-Foot (Tools & Home Improvement)
This product has been used by my company for over 4 years and we have been through at least 10 of these by 2 people. The feet do not last over a month (original rubber feet) and the telescoping feet cost $70.00 a pair and last about 1 year. If you do not keep the ladder clean (in other words do not WORK with it) it will shortly jam up and will not open. There is NO customer service to speak of except email and their warranty is a joke. BUT - THIS LADDER IS INVALUABLE TO MY COMPANY BECAUSE WE ENTER ATTICS EVERYDAY AND CANNOT IMAGINE WORKING WITHOUT THE CONVENIANCE OF THE TELESCOPING LADDER. I just wish customer service was better, the warranty was valid, and most of all the product was more durable.

The ladder works well in tight spaces and is easy to carry and store. It should not be mistaken for a general purpose ladder, as it has some severe limitations. The bottom of the ladder does not have outriggers, so it is not a good idea to lean to the side when it is extended very high. It must also be placed on very solid ground or pavement, no grass or soft dirt. The ladder accepts only compressive forces, so it cannot be safely suspended from the top. When extending the ladder you must know before hand how many rungs will be needed. If you do not correctly estimate the required height, you must collapse the ladder and start over, but this is merely an inconvenience. I am guessing that is must also be kept scrupulously clean, since it extends like a fine telescope. I kept the plastic shipping package to cover it while stored. If you recognize its limitations and use it only according to directions, you will probably be very happy with it.

Amazon Price was better than any other, by at least $50 dollars. The ladder works well, is light weight, and collapses to a manageable size. One Caution!! As it collapses down, BE SURE to KEEP your FINGERS to the outside rail edges, NOT between any of the steps- It can very easily pinch or smash your fingers!

I am a solar contractor for over 30 years and have always used a 16 ft extension ladder, which was often difficult to transfer, when I did not have my truck, requiring me to secure it on a rack of my personal vehicle. No more rack, fits in the trunk.Best part is I can have the ladder extended and unextended in 1/4 the time of the extension ladder. Only drawback, the ladder must be used on a solid surface, not something like wet grass or a dirt surface, which may damage the internals of the ladder.

I purchased this Telesteps 1600, 250 pound ladder for traveling in my trailer. Easy to open and light enough for an older guy to handle.I have several extension ladders, this one takes them out. Negatives. Letting down with the 2 small release rings, and no instruction on how to keep your fingers out of the way. Also Do not set on soft ground. I recommend this ladder for someone that really likes quick set up.

I bought my ladder about a month ago, and just as others had complained, within a week, the rubber feet started to tear. Now they are trash, I will have to replace them. Also, at the top of the ladder is a rubber piece that came up missing last week. It is a great ladder, as a home inspector it makes my job easier, but for the money, you would think as unique as the ladder is that silly rubber things would be easily modified. Figure it out teleboyz!Update: It almost lasted to November. A bit of wind caught it and blew it over, and now it is destroyed! It is a shame, it is so handy for my work, but not built to last. Maybe for an RV'er this would be a good ladder, but not for everyday use. Just recieved the Telesteps 1800EP Pro 300-Pound Duty Rating Aluminum Telescoping Extension Ladder, now this is a good ladder. So much more stable and sturdy. If you plan on using it regularly, spend the extra $ and buy this ladder. Everything I didn't like about the 1600 ladder, (feet dont last, small rungs, ease of closing, etc.) 1800 is very well designed, and looks to be built to last.

We live full-time in a 40 foot Foretravel deisel pusher motorhome. North America is our front yard. From time to time I need to reach something on the motorhome and this ladder is perfect. It is lightweight, I can open it to any length in seconds and it stores in a very small amount of space. The only "drawback" is that it is fussy to close up.

This was to replace the same ladder that got damaged. It's a very good ladder and I would recommend it.

I first saw one of these types of ladders while camping. Our neighbor camper had one to get to the top part of his camper. I thought this would be great for us and got online to learn more about them. So I ordered one of these for my husband and he has used it many times both for the camper and home. It's very sturdy. We have since downsized to a very tiny house and that ladder is perfect. It's so small that we are able to keep it in the furnace closet! Just perfect for people with little storage space. I would say this ladder is a must for any home.

This ladder is hard to extend. The locks jammed after the second use and has not worked since. Very pricey for a product of such poor quality.
