Book Description

October 2007 1432903675 978-1432903671
The aim of this new series is to teach children how to think, not what to think. By providing case studies, historical context and individual opinions but not a specific right or wrong, these books encourage readers to think and express themselves independently. Each topic acts as a springboard for a discussion on related issues. Books include a range of viewpoints to encourage critical thinking. It features simple activities and exercises to provide practical advice and examples of creative thinking. It is a mixture of text types including recounts, reports, discussion and persuasive text.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for learning and considering both sides of an issue, February 3, 2008
Once again, Kate Shuster delivers. This book is excellent for students, teachers, and parents. It objectively shows readers how to consider both sides of an issue and then has a section where the reader decides his or her position. Great discussion starter and topic for debating. This is part of the new "What Do You Think" series and I highly recommend all eight of them.
