4.0 out of 5 stars "I am a TV Head, I watch it day and night"

I was kind of hesitant to spend 20 bucks on this CD, but I grew up on a lot of TV and the memories these songs bring back are priceless. The performances are all originals, no cheesy imitations. 3.0 out of 5 stars A GOOD SET, BUT MISSING SOME CLASSIC THEMES!
It's hard to complain when your getting 65 themes in one collection, but this volume has some disappointing themes on it and I'm not sure if everything is original.

The themes sound quality range from OK to excellent, but this is an improvement over the first two CD's as far as sound is concerned. Also, some of the themes don't have the ending credits themes...

I was kind of hesitant to spend 20 bucks on this CD, but I grew up on a lot of TV and the memories these songs bring back are priceless. The performances are all originals, no cheesy imitations. My faves are the Nickelodeon tunes - 'Clarissa', 'Pete & Pete', 'Ren & Stimpy' - and I would have given the CD 5 stars if they had included at least one version of the 'Roundhouse' theme (the title of my review is an homage to 'Roundhouse'). Another missing theme is from 'Martin' - I mean, they have 'Roc' and 'Fresh Prince', but no 'Martin'? Or En Vogue's "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper"? Come on!

The strings in the 'Sisters' theme still give me chills, "The Nanny Named Fran" always makes me smile and Doc Severinsen's "Georgia on My Mind" (from 'Designing Women') is excellent. When I listen to 'Twin Peaks' though all I can think of is the sketch on 'Saturday Night Live' with Mike Myers talking backwards and Victoria Jackson eating ribbon and spitting out a bow.

All in all, this CD will make you smile when you hear the songs because they will make you think of the shows and what was happening in your life when they were airing.

This has got to be the BEST TV song soundtrack I have come across! It takes me back in time to revisit the shows that have been off the air for ages!

5.0 out of 5 stars Television's Greastest Hits: Cable Ready, March 31, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Television's Greatest Hits, Vol. 7: Cable Ready (Audio CD)
This is a great album. I love listening to CDs that have songs from some of my favorite shows. My favorite songs on this CD are: The Simpsons, Roseanne, Seinfeld, Home Improvement, and Tales From The Crypt. Everyone should definitely buy this CD. It's great to listen to because you can still keep in touch with some of your favorite tv shows that are no longer on tv. I love this CD. Buy it!

As with the other "Television's Greatest Hits" collections, this is a great compilation and a wonderful, heart-warming time capsule. It's amazing that seven volumes in, they still had a plethora of entertaining themes available to collect. A must-have for any die-hard fan of classic TV.

4.0 out of 5 stars They're always out on the hunt., April 15, 2006

This review is from: Television's Greatest Hits, Vol. 7: Cable Ready (Audio CD)
This CD features 65 TV theme songs from the '80s and '90s. All the themes are the original versions as heard on television. If you watched a lot of TV during that era, you will be familiar with many of the tracks here. Some of the themes are pretty cheesy, especially for the "family" sit-coms, but that's part of their charm. TV addicts should get this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars PETE AND PETE?!?!?!?!, June 6, 2003
This review is from: Television's Greatest Hits, Vol. 7: Cable Ready (Audio CD)
Of all the "Television's Greatest Hits" volumes, this one is my favorite because some of its shows were actually made during my lifetime. However, I am giving this compilation 5 stars for one and only one reason:

It has the theme song from the ADVENTURES OF PETE AND PETE.

Just in case you missed that last part, let me say it again: the theme song from the ADVENTURES OF PETE AND PETE.

No, you're not hallucinating. I really did say the theme song from the ADVENTURES OF PETE AND PETE.

I'm sorry, but any TV-theme compilers who paid attention to that show have my SUPREME respect and admiration. They also included the theme for Clarissa Explains it All, making them even more deserving of my respect. In case you don't know, this is where Melissa Joan Hart got her start - not on Sabrina, which is like a years-dead cow that is somehow still being milked for pennies.

The other eighty thousand or so tracks are also somewhat interesting. Home Improvement! Roseanne! The Simpsons! Etc.

Many years ago I bought the tapes and later the discs for TeeVee Tunes set of Theme Songs. However while working at a company, my copies of Cable Ready, (Vol. 7) and Remote Control, (Vol 6), disappeared from their cases. I found the cases, but no discs. I finally found the replacements through Amazon.com.

I bought these used and I was nervous, but the discs arrived fast and they were in almost pristine condition. I have had many hours of enjoyment listening to the themes that I grew up with.

Amazon.com has just about everything that you want as far as Movies, Music, and TV Shows.

3.0 out of 5 stars A GOOD SET, BUT MISSING SOME CLASSIC THEMES!, June 11, 2009
This review is from: Television's Greatest Hits, Vol. 7: Cable Ready (Audio CD)
It's hard to complain when your getting 65 themes in one collection, but this volume has some disappointing themes on it and I'm not sure if everything is original.

The themes sound quality range from OK to excellent, but this is an improvement over the first two CD's as far as sound is concerned. Also, some of the themes don't have the ending credits themes included, which would have been nice. Another problem is that some shows had different themes throughout their run and not all are included.

Over all this set is not bad, but be prepared for some disappointments. I own all 7 CD's from this set and many others, but for some reason some very cool themes aren't included. I've had to do some serious treasure hunting to find them on DVD's or VHS to transfer them to CD.

If you can find this at a reasonable price then buy it.
