5.0 out of 5 stars Important read for any aspiring TV writer November 17, 2012
By BarryG
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is a great resource for people who are trying to move into television writing. It contains strong, useful, and specific advice on both the art of TV writing and the business. It contains a rich collection of samples scripts and outlines, and a plethora of timeless stories from the industry. It has long been the first book I've told people to buy when they're trying to develop their TV writing career. That was true at $18 for the paperback, and it's all the more true now with the Kindle version. If you want to write for television, there is no reason to not have this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars So you want to be a TV writer? This book is mandatory! December 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
As an aspiring TV writer and producer, I have to say that this book is mandatory. Larry Brody dissects the sometimes daunting process of developing a story, creating compelling characters, and writing a script in a way that is easy and understandable. I have read this book from cover to cover, many times, literally, from the inside out! This book, as well as Larry's TV writing classes have helped me tremendously in creating my TV pilot, as well as producing and bringing it to life. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone who writes for, or is interested in writing for television.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Resource November 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a must have resource if you really want to know how to write for television and as the title says inside and out. I would also recommend reading the book and taking Larry's Class, which uses the book, it really will make a difference in your writing, not only improve how you write but also how you watch TV shows. (It's almost like knowing how potato chips are made).

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant guide for the aspiring TV writer! March 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the first book I have read that gave me a true insight into how the TV world works. Having now spoken with a working showrunner who has given me similar insights, and all of which have aligned with the advice in this book. For anyone looking to better understand how the TVnwriting world works, you should read this book. For anyone looking for tips and techniques for writing better, you should read this book. For anyone who wants to better understand where to focus their time and efforts in their writing career, they should read this book. I am glad I found it when I did and hope others find it as beneficial as I have.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for those serious about writing December 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Having searched the internet and viewed countless articles on teleplay/screenplay writing, I have yet to find a better resource that Larry Brody's Television Writing from the Inside Out. I first read Larry's tips in the Ask the Expert section of the Final Draft screenplay writing software. After reading his straightforward and logical approach to writing, I did further research and found he had a book dedicated to the subject. So I purchased Television Writing from the Inside Out, and I must say that it was a worthy investment. This book has been my one stop shop for not only information about the industry, but it has been an effective step-by-step source for everything from formatting to storytelling.

I was so impressed with the book, that I went on to take Larry's writing classes which are based on the lessons from this book. Having read the book, and been through his Beginner, Advanced, and Master writing classes, I can personally say that I am a far better writer now than when I first began. If you're serious about teleplay/screenplay writing, then you can't go wrong with this one!

By Justin
Format:Kindle Edition
Larry Brody's Television Writing from the Inside Out hilariously recounts stories from his days writing and producing in LA while teaching essential tools for those looking to attempt their own television script or screenplay. Both the curious and the aspiring writer will find value on these pages: the curious will find themselves becoming acquainted with the strange world that exists behind the television screen; the aspiring writer will find helpful tips in dealing with road blocks encountered while they try to write the page and then sell whats on it. It's a useful book and well worth the read.
