Tell Me a Mitzi,
By Doreen Binder (Portland, Oregon USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tell Me a Mitzi (Paperback)
I read this book to both my children when they were little, then to my grandson, and send it as a gift to the older child of the family when a younger child is born. I love this book as did my children and grandson. In fact I have to order a new one, I have kept the first book I read to my daughter, who is not 27 and the mother of my grandchild. The book is fun to read and the pictures are interesting and fun as well.

It Brings Me Back!,
By Tara Cort Watson (Germantown, New York United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tell Me a Mitzi (Paperback)
I recently came across Tell Me A Mitzi in a story book called You Read to me & I'll Read to You. Looking at the illustrations brought me back to my childhood! It was an amazing feeling, I had forgotten all about Mitzi's "trip" in a taxi. I loved Tell Me A Mitzi as a young girl and I love it now as a mom of 3 girls.

Wonderful Memories,
By Laurel Melchor (Sacramento, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tell Me a Mitzi (Hardcover)
I loved this book as a child and now I love reading it to my students and my own kids. These stories are marvelous to read aloud to children. The repetitive cadences make the silliness that much more fun. The pictures are also great. They have so many tiny little details that can absorb kids for hours.

Still love it years later,
By DE Mom (Newark, DE United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tell Me a Mitzi (Paperback)
My grandmother read this to me when I was little, and now my 2 and 4 year old love it too. They like the long breathless sentences, repeating all the little details. The pictures are a bit...odd...(little kids with the faces of old people)...but that's the only negative I can think of, and the stories are such fun that I can overlook that!

These three stories - which I remembered vividly from my own childhood - became a treasure for my own 3 y.o. In the first, Mitzi wakes early and decides to dress her baby brother and take him to visit their grandparents. Feeding, dressing, elevator, etc. She gets as far as the back seat of a cab, but she doesn't know the address, and the whole story unfolds in reverse. This story is so immediate for kids, because they think they know how to do so much and yet there are certain obstacles they still can't overcome. The other two stories are more of these iterative exercises. The pictures summon a Lower Manhattan where kids sat on stoops and stores sold gum, but the people are dressed for Nixon's re-election. The faces are a wink to the grandchildren of greenhorns.

A story you won't soon forget,
This review is from: Tell Me a Mitzi (Paperback)
This is one book that stuck in my memory from childhood and I couldn't beleive I found it online even though it is out of print. It is so cute and keeps kids enamored tinking, "Could that really happen?" and I say, "Why not!?"

I loved this book when I was a little girl and now I enjoy reading it to my son. It features three stories starring Mitzi and her baby brother Jacob. In the stories, Mitzi experiences an illness, attempts to take a cab to Grandma's with Jacob, and meets the President. The stories are clever and the colorful illustrations add to the vividness of the tales.

Tell Me A Mitzi,

This review is from: Tell Me a Mitzi (Paperback)
"Tell Me A Mitzi" was the favorite story of my daughter and now I was able to send it to my grand-daughter to enjoy. The stories are a slice of a little girls everyday life. The illustrations are unusual...that is the drawings of the people are very interesting and fun. Great book!
