5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this story
Having read a ton of Elizabeth Lowell novels, this was one of her best. I thought Lindsay and Catlin had hot, explosive chemistry together. The background information on Chinese bronzes was just enough to interest you. Sometimes, Ms. Lowell goes a little overboard with info in other books. The tension as Lindsay fell deeper into the seedy world of forgery and stolen...

1.0 out of 5 stars Please!
There was more unneeded detail in this book than I have seen in a long time. The author, whom I have read frequently, was so wrapped up in showing a painful amount of knowledge on bronze that she lost the thread of the story. In addition, did anyone ever explain to her that a person could look totally hooked on a man without literally falling all over him in public? I...

The tension as Lindsay fell deeper into the seedy world of forgery and stolen art and international politics was so high that you could personally feel her pain and wondered if she would ever be the same. Great ending!!! Overall: A.

Just a heads-up--this is not a new book. It was originally published in 1986. A nice balance of romance and action, it reminds me most of Lowell's Donovan series (Amber Beach/Jade Island/Pearl Cove/Midnight in Ruby Bayou).

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful And Steamy, February 18, 2006

If you love action, drama, suspense and steamy love scenes, then this book is perfect. Lowell doesn't skip a beat! I have read this book three times already and still can't get enough of it! Not only does she put in a love story, it isn't what dominates the novel. One learns interesting and new facts about Bronzes and international trade and relations. With all the new facts you learn, you'll be rewarded many times over. A must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Struck a note with me!, August 15, 2007
This review is from: Tell Me No Lies (STP - Mira) (Paperback)
Have 2 copies, one to keep, one to share. Spent hours in Museum of Asias at Smithsonian looking an ancient Chinese bronzes. Am fascinated with Lowell's portrayals of Chinese politics in all her books. They just feel so spot on. And I love the detail and imagination she uses in her descriptions of art objects.

The author, whom I have read frequently, was so wrapped up in showing a painful amount of knowledge on bronze that she lost the thread of the story. In addition, did anyone ever explain to her that a person could look totally hooked on a man without literally falling all over him in public? I guess not. I could have put up with that, but when I finally got to the last page, I didn't even bother to pass the book to a friend. Not wanting to have by head bashed by the book, I simply threw it away.

What a waste.
