This review is from: Tell Me, Papa (Paperback)
This is a very unique book that explains the answers to questions children may have about death and dying.
It is a story of a grandpa talking to children about death and dying. It talks about the different feelings they may have. That the loved one's heart and breathing has stopped. What a funeral home is and the role of the funeral director. What a casket is and a memorial service. What a hearse is and that it carries the body to a cemetery. What set up you might see at the cemetery and what happens there. It also goes on to explain what a crematorium, the process there and what an urn is for those that choose that option. The book finishes by saying goodbye and what beliefs some people have about dying. This is a great book to explain to children. It helps children understand what is going to happen and what is going on. I have a few children that range is age from 1 to 15. I think it is appropriate for any age. Children should know what goes on at a funeral. I just can't say enough about this book. Our children tour fire stations ect... They should really be touring a funeral home, lots of anxiety could be relieved if they knew more about a difficult topic. This is something they will definitely encounter in their lives. |
