Sara's "Tell Me What You Know" is one of the best albums I've ever heard, in ANY genre. There's an honesty and clarity that shines thru every song, from the melodies and lyrics to the production, arrangements and mix. Put on your phones and pay attention to this one, it's absolutely worth every minute. I'd say my favorite tracks are "Abstraction" and "When The Saints," but they're all great in their own way.

Sara Groves has inspired me for years. She brings something new out of my heart in the experiences of listening to her music. She does challenge me. And she does not shy away from the world and it's problems, while searching for Truth, and sharing that with us. God bless you Sara. Many of her albums are very outwardly devotional and introspective. This one is devoted in a different way, paying heed more to the material world and her struggle and search in it. I guess, I might say it is the unfolding of her interior world with God, and how that plays out and what it means to her in this world. I see her as an angel, and someone that helps keep me honest. And yet her underlying truth (as it seems to me..) might be that "God is our hope. Our life. Our Salvation. We are to be in the world, but not of it necessarily. Fulfilling our functions as servants, doing our best, but seeking the kingdom first..." All the rest shall be taken care of ... That is the faith I feel. And that is what lasts forever.

Landmark Sara Groves, top 10 of 2007!,

This review is from: Tell Me What You Know (Audio CD)
I love Sara Groves and how refreshing her music, lyrics, overall songwriting and singing voice actually all seem to get better with each release. "Conversations", "All Right Here" and "Add To The Beauty" were all top 10 albums the year they came out (including CCM Magazine's album of the year for 2005). As great as her previous albums are, "Tell Me What You Know" is my favorite Sara Groves release and top 10 of 2007 for me. I can't get enough of "When The Saints", "Song For My Sons", and "I Saw What I Saw".

As soon as I heard WMBI playing the excellent new song "When the Saints" yesterday morning I knew instantly there must be a new Sara Groves album, and lo here it is.
I've bought all of Sara Groves' albums, after hearing her live at Willow Creek Community Church a couple of years ago. She sings well with a distinctive voice in a vocal range I enjoy, and also with real honesty and depth. In addition to "When the Saints", I also gave an extra star in iTunes to "Say a Prayer", "Love Is Still A Worthy Cause" and "I Saw What I Saw", and found all the other songs also easily listenable. For your first Sara Groves album, also consider her "Conversations." Its songs "The Word", "He's Always been Faithful" and "Tent in the Center of Town" are among my very favorites, though I also have favorites on her "The Other Side of Something" and "Past the Wishing" albums. Recommended.

"It Might Be Hope",

This review is from: Tell Me What You Know (Audio CD)
This CD came to me through a friend... She loves "When the Saints" and played that song for me one afternoon. She put her favorite songs on her iPod and GAVE ME her CD --- little did she know how much the song "It Might Be Hope" would touch me! It was a GOD THING that I heard this song, as the timing could not be more perfect for me to receive the message... the blessings...
I have been listening to Sara Groves for years and each CD seems to have at least ONE SONG that brings me to the floor, tears, and humbled. "It Might Be Hope" is the one from this release!

Sara was a complete unknown to me until I was given her CD. She now has an enthusiastic new fan. Her words and music have an uncommon flavor that you just want to savor and allow to linger in your heart and brain for a good while. I found that after I "finished" my listening experience, I just kept wanting to go back for seconds and thirds of this great fare. Sara makes you think, and in thinking through some questions and experiences, you then begin to allow your heart to feel the hope and the promise that God is there, that He is good, and He loves you. Her CD came to me at a very raw time, and her words helped me remember that, because I love Him and desire to follow Him with all that I have, the Lord will truly work out all things for good in my life. But more than looking inwardly, her music also gave me a profound desire to share the greatness and goodness of the Lord with others, especially with those who hurt inside. Jesus gives comfort and brings healing. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Sara's music is a great appetizer for the Bread of Life.

This is a life changing c.d. by Sara Groves. Sara goes into uncharted territory, with her lyrics about injustice, pain, strength and conviction. This c.d. is a wake up call to evangelical Christians to truly love as Jesus did---to act on behalf of the helpless and those without a voice. It was a wake up call for me. I have given this c.d. to several friends who have been deeply moved by it.

I eagerly anticipated Sara's new CD, as I've never been disappointed before. It still blew me away. I love "Song for My Sons," "When the Saints," "Honesty," "It Might be Hope," and "The Long Defeat." Her lyrics and music always bowl me over, but this CD really hit me where I am in my walk right now. She so clearly expresses herself and I appreciate her honesty. I have introduced Sara to several people and they all say that she's their favorite artist now. This CD does not disappoint.
