About the Author
Dr. Robert D. Pierson is the Executive Director of Leader- ship Nexus, an organization providing training in a variety of areas for the Church. He served as pastor of Christ United Methodist Church for over thirty years and after serving at rural churches and a college town church. He has also served extensively in the Annual Conference of the Oklahoma UMC. Dr. Pierson is the author of Needs-Based Evan- gelism, a book on the task of effective evangelism today, has founded and served as Chairman of the Large Church Initiative of the United Methodist Church for fourteen years, and served as Executive Direc- tor of CUGM, an ecumenical fellowship of pastors of larger churches created by Robert Schuler. He has also served as National Chairman of Missions Evangelism for the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. He has been actively involved in starting churches across Russia and is presently serving as the Evangelism Chairman for the Oklahoma Methodist Church. Dr. Pierson and his wife, Delia, have six grown children and live in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
