Go into the mind of a person with Mpd/did through their art,
By
This review is from: Telling Without Talking: Art as a Window into the World of Multiple Personality (Hardcover)
This is a compilation of art work done in therapy by patients with Multiple personality/ disassociation identity disorder. The contents may be sometimes beautiful, sometimes revealing and sometimes shocking. Here you learn how to detect Disassociation identity disoder in people through paintings and drawings that reveal the systems of their alters, memories of the abuse, their sense of shatterd self images etc through what is called systems pictures, abreactional pictures, Chaos pictures, threat, induction, trance and switching pictures. Some of the pictures in this book are quite shocking and disturbing( meaning the ones that tell of the abuse that lead to this condition) but learning how to diagnose this disorder through the art work of people is fascinating . The book was written and compiled by a couple of art therapist who encountered several cases of MPD/DID in their work and developed a system through art to detect DID. I highly reccomend this book for anyone who cares to understand the world of people with MPD.DID further. You learn so much through these pictures.

This review is from: Telling Without Talking: Art as a Window into the World of Multiple Personality (Hardcover)
This book is designed for professionals who treat Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and so the language and information are pretty high-level. For those of us who live with DID, the book does offer insight into our artwork, that it tells much more than one might guess at first glance.
If you're living with DID, the book I recommend first and foremost is The Dissociative Identity Disorder Sourcebook (Sourcebooks). That's a great foundation, and Telling Without Talking is a valuable supplement. I was very fortunate - I got a used copy here on Amazon, and even with shipping it was less than $6.00. Still, especially for professionals who can write off expenses such as this, the book is well worth the suggested retail of $[...] |
