Biography

When it came time to record its third album, Bullet for My Valentine wasn’t content to rest on its already impressive laurels. While its second album, 2008’s “Scream Aim Fire,” debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and sold more than a million copies worldwide, went gold in the UK and Canada, the Welsh metal band mates had a fire in their collective belly to push ... Editorial Reviews

With "Temper Temper", Bullet For My Valentine unleash a new metal classic that's simultaneously heavy and hypnotic. This has the makings of being their equivalent of The Black Album and further solidifying them as the genre's 21st century kings.

Customer Reviews

Like all of their albums there is a little bit of everything on this effort.

Even though some songs have rhymes, the band completely fails here in terms of lyrical consistency.

After I heard that I ended up buying all of their albums and was so glad that I did.

This band started with a lot of momentum and looked on the verge of major things but have really hit the brakes with their last 2 releases. Much like 'Fever' this disc has some very good riffs within, but they are scattered between juvenile lyrics, some cheesy, formulaic choruses and over processed/ produced music. Too clean (though the guitars are sharp) attempting to sugar coat the weaknesses within.

I would actually like to know why this band and label believes that catering to a teenage crowd (especially lyrically), that does not exist, is a good idea?. Popularity is great, but now they should face what they are. Too old for this standard fare and challenged lyrics. I mean just go for it at this point, IF you have it in you. The side project 'Axewound' was much better than this with 1/3 the distribution. I think they would be surprised what an actual sincere, heavy release would do. But maybe they cant get on the same page for that and keep compromising, who knows.

'The Poison' was a solid disc. Unlike many, I liked 'Scream Aim Fire', thought it was the roots of what might be a strong Metal band with growth potential. It had different elements, yet had growth over 'Poison'. The last 2 releases look like a band desperate to try and make something happen on their major label, that just doesn't work. Doesn't sound sincere to me. Its like they have the ability but keep catering and hoping and holding back.

But as stated, it has a few good tracks, the riffs, many of them, are strong and if you can stomach the cheese lyrics and liked 'Fever' for the most part, this is for you.
If (like myself) you were hoping this CD would be vindication after 'Fever', it really is not. Simple as that.

BFMV have proven to many again that shifting gears from Metalcore to something more reminiscent of radio Rock is not always the best move. I can appreciate the vocals and the musicianship but the overall writing is very weak.

Side Note: Having an opinion that is different than your own does not make the other person a "hater" kiddos.

I was a big BFMV fan once I first picked up The Poison. That said, they have steadily gone downhill since, to the point that I no longer listen to them. It's not just about transitioning to "radio rock", it's the fact that the lyrics are awful, and the musicianship while adequate, is stale.

Bullet has always delivered great music, but this one misses the mark just a tad. The Poison is without a doubt their standout album so you can't compare this to any of their other music. If you try you will be disappointed. This has it's own blend and feel, but my only argument is if you are going to have a badass album cover you better deliver some way harder tracks!

At the beginning of their career they were very heavy metalcore and that isn't usually my cup of tea even though I do like a very small amount of Metalcore bands. Poison was great metalcore and Temper Temper is great hard rock. Comparing is pretty unfair. The highlights are Tears Don't Fall 2 and Riot

All in all, this is what I would expect from BFMV at this point in their career. They have had some successful albums and as they grow to be one of the more popular modern metal groups around the world, they will most likely put out some albums of this nature. Like all of their albums there is a little bit of everything on this effort. IMO, it is a very generic metal album when you consider lyrics and song titles. It is very user friendly and they managed to put out some memorable tracks that would make the album worth having. Eventually the rest of the tracks will most likely grow on you. Like previous reviewers, I will agree it is not the caliber of Poison or Scream, Aim, Fire, but where it lacks in originality it makes up for in energy and musicianship.

Some memorable tracks from first listen for me were: P.O.W., Dirty Little Secret, Tears Don't Fall Pt. 2.

Musically, this sounds generic as hell... but at this point, I think everyone can safely admit it's commercial rock. If you are looking for a heavier Nickelback, this is your band. Personally, I couldn't stand this garbage. Instrumentally, it's alright, and occasionally catchy but not enough to make up for how bad it is. Lyrically, it's laughable... so terrible, that you'd expect this kind of writing from a middle school garage band. I listened through a couple songs, and hit a point where I just could not take it anymore... the lyrics were so generically cheesy that I felt stupid for listening to them. Go to Youtube and listen to "Riot" for example... "run from the sirens, run from the law... OoohhhOoohh, riot!" Seriously? Do your brain a favor... spend your hard earned money on a band that has talent, not a band that stopped trying and merely coast along, dragging with them any loyal fans from their previous success almost 10 yrs ago.

This is just plain awful... but I give it 2 stars because production is decent. Check out the new Stone Sour instead, if you like this kind of music.
