5.0 out of 5 stars "...A moving story that is well worth the read.", October 16, 2007
This review is from: Tempered Dreams (Paperback)
"The novel Tempered Dreams tells the amazing story of a woman surviving a life of domestic violence. This enlightening read brings to the forefront the melay of mixed emotions that plague victims of this atrocity. "

"After surviving a car crash with her husband, Kristine is filled with anger and frustration. She's had enough of her alcoholic husband and his abusive behavior. She meets Dr. Scott when he administers medical help to her. He shows her tenderness and concern and she finds herself opening up to him about her abusive marriage."

"Before long romantic feeling develop between the two. Will they be able to build a relationship together or will Kristine's past put a damper on their future?"

"This is a moving story that is well worth the read."

5.0 out of 5 stars TEMPERED DREAMS, August 2, 2001
By
Kari Thomas (Prescott, Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tempered Dreams (Paperback)
I thought Pamela Thibodeaux's first book, TEMPERED HEARTS, was so very special, but I have to say her newest one TEMPERED DREAMS is the best of the two! This is actually the 2nd in the TEMPERED series, and the hero is from the first book, Dr. Scott Hensley. He's a true hero in every sense of the word; supporting Trina in every possible way. A line in the book says it all: "Scott was always there when Trina needed him the most." The heroine, Katrina Simmons, is endearing and wonderful. Pamela portrayed her so well you feel like you know her, or someone just like her. This book is one you read with tissues near at hand; very emotional, very REAL-life. Pamela wrote with heartfelt emotion that came through without being preachy or sappy, like some Christian romances tend to be. I always end up cheering on the punishment of the bad guy in any story (in this case, Trina's abusive husband Jack) but even I learned the true meaning of God's grace and the power of forgiveness in the way Pam wrote this story. All I can say in conclusion is if the next book in the series is as good (which its SURE to be!) then I'd better buy more tissues, AND tell all my reader friends to be sure and buy them all!

4.0 out of 5 stars Love brings strength, January 18, 2007

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Tempered Dreams (Paperback)
Dr. Scott Hensley, who took care of the Harrises in Bandera, Texas, in Tempered Hearts, is on his way to New Orleans, Louisiana, when he happens upon an automobile accident. He stops to assist as needed and meets Katrina Simmons.

As a passenger in the wrecked car, she is suffering from shock and filled with anger. Her husband, the driver, has multiple, but minor abrasions. Scott checks them both and sends them to the hospital where he becomes the doctor in charge.

Dr. Hensley realizes he feels more concern for Katrina Simmons than he should, but is unable to do anything about it. When she arrives at the hospital a short time later as a result from a beating by her husband Jack, Scott finds himself caught and held by the strong protective feelings that bludgeon his heart. Anger, deep and white hot, boils his blood as he nurses Katrina back to health. The fear in her eyes when he touches her jolts him, and he finds himself roiling on a tempestuous sea of emotions.

Thus begins a long hard battle to save Katrina from her abusive husband and win her heart. Will he be successful?

Pamela Thibodeaux once again weaves a moving tale of how the love of God can heal, strengthen and forgive not only us, but others through us. God is very real, for Pamela, for Pamela's characters and for me. Ms. Thibodeaux's books are indeed inspirational for I find myself gaining hope and joy from the precious words of our Lord.
