5.0 out of 5 stars A great narrative of American sailors at war ., April 1, 2000

This review is from: Tempest, Fire and Foe: Destroyer Escorts in World War II and the Men Who (Hardcover)
The artful title describes well the stories of the destroyer escort ships and sailors during WWII. The author was there. He skippered Sims through the Battle of the Atlantic so he has a connection to these ships and the men who manned them. His narrative is particularly touching because he was so close to the amazing story of the development of this Naval force in the face of world crisis and its equally amazing sterling performance facing the perils of subs, kamikazes and storms. This book will thrill anyone who enjoys Naval history
