Editorial Reviews

About the Artist
Pandemonaeon combines the influences of both traditional and popular musical styles to create an unusual blend of Middle-Eastern/Celtic rock. Inspired by the tribal-trance stylings of bands like Dead Can Dance, Pandemonaeon infuses their remarkable sound with high energy elements such as electric guitars, electric violin, oud and mandocello, accompanied by Arabic and African rhythms. Lead guitarist Winter's blues background and fondness for 9th and suspended chords give a Zeppelin-esque flavor to their somewhat goth tribal mood.

Product Description
Recorded at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, these 12 incendiary tracks feature Uilleann piper Todd Denman, Egyptian percussionist Reda Darwish, Gari Hegedus on oud & violin, & our band from the 2000-2002 period. The excitement & energy from both the band & the audience is very palpable throughout the 1 hour plus of music & mayhem & represents the band sound Sharon & Winter envisioned on their first CD. There are exciting versions of Lamplight, Kashlimar, & Word of Honor; 2 songs from that night's Celtic set; the tail end of the bellydance performance by dancer Ishtara (backed by Reda Darwish on dumbek); & 5 new originals. Definitely a memorable night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the Sharon Knight/Pandemonaeon albums, March 27, 2005
This album brings together all the musicianship and Sharon Knight's vocals with the energy of a live peformance. The result is a wide range of tempo and emotion that all succeeds in reaching the listener with passion and authenticity. Whether you are pagan or not, this album speaks to anyone who appreciates sincere emotion, spirituality, and yes, fun in their music. The full range of influences, including rock, tribal, folk, middle-eastern, and others all work synergistically; it never sounds contrived or arrogant. Someone said that this band is a blend of Dead Can Dance and Led Zeppelin, and I agree (but they also go well beyond those two influences). This album features Winter's guitar more prominently, viva Winter-Jimmy Page. The songs are well-chosen, the recording and mix excellent.
