Excellent, the best book i've read,

This review is from: Barefoot in the Grass: Showcase (Harlequin Superromance No. 715) (Paperback)
Excellent, the best book i've read. Arnold shows how love goes beyond looks, and focuses on how the innerself of a person is the most important trait of all. The heroin survives with great perseverance, and frustation just fills you, trying to tell each of the characters what the other feels. You'll forget it's only fiction, feeling happy at the end, along with the main characters.

Once again Judith Arnold caught me with one of her wonderful stories. It made me laugh and cry, but in the end, I felt really good. Ms. Arnold has a talent for creating warm characters and compelling stories. Keep up the great work!

I recently had the great good fortune to read a friend's old copy of Barefoot in the Grass. What a wonderful story! Judith Arnold has a very easy-to-read style, descriptions that come alive, and the knack for bringing heart-touching issues to her pages. Her ability to explore and reveal the emotional depths of her characters, to show us how they grow as people, makes her story seem true to life. As an aspiring writer myself, I am studying Barefoot in the Grass line by line; it may be the perfect romance novel.

Not generally a fan of serial romance books such as Silhouette and Harlequin; I read it on the recommendation of a friend. I was pleasantly surprised by the storyline and enjoyed it tremendously. Ms. Arnold told of a romance that had no prejudices or prejudgements and gave readers hope that not every romantic hero is looking for a visually perfect woman but the one woman that he sees with his heart as perfect.

Barefoot on the Grass is about Beth Pendleton, a breast cancer survivor trying to make a new life for herself in the small New England town of Devon, and Ryan Walker, a local construction worker. The are fixed up on a sidewalk by Beth's mischivious puppy, Chuck. Well, maybe not fixed up right away. One might say it was love at first sight, but Beth keeps Ryan at arm's leingth, afraid Ryan will see what she sacrificed to beat breast cancer. J. Arnold writes hilarity and romance into sentences together.
