I happened upon this CD while eating in a pleasant Enoteca in Florence this winter. The owner alternated between early Frank Sinatra and Lucca Carboni throughout the night. Carboni's voice weaves smokey, dreamlike love songs, then cries out in harsh and hard rythyms against prejudice and hate and hurt. Either way, he's one of the most popular Italian artists for good reason. I took the advice of the cab driver who drove me to the Florence airport that last day in Italy, "il tempo dell'amore" is his "ultimo" - best and newest. I discovered a whole new world of music in Italy...and thank Lucca Carboni for opening that door.

I had heard a couple of the songs from this CD and fell in love with it. I'm not even sure as to how I stumbled upon Carboni, but I am so very happy that I did. I searched for 3 days in Rome, music store after music store. My efforts were fruitless. I was finally successful if Florence. I found a true treasure, and I listen to it every day. The messages that Carboni sends out in his music are beautiful, strong and honest. Listen to "La mia ragazza," and let it flow from your ears, through your imagination to find its home in your heart. Anyone who likes Italian music must have this CD.

I have been a fan of Luca Carboni for many years and this album is a wonderful "best of" collection. Those who are unfamillar with his work will find a marvelous sampling of old and new hits. Diehard fans will love having all of these oldies but goodies on one CD (as well as enjoy a couple of new tunes). I highly recommend this CD.
