With a musical trajectory that spans nearly a decade, ISIS has emerged from the frozen recesses of New England to become an internationally renowned force in underground music. Critically revered as the vanguard of "art metal," the band has consistently exploded the idiomatic strictures that have traditionally defined heavy music, with each new release expanding and improving upon ... 5.0 out of 5 stars Solution for download codes November 16, 2012
Format:Audio CD
The music on this compilation is essential for any Isis fan. However, on the packaging, there is a download code advertised, but not included, for 5 bonus tracks. Ipecac has remedied this problem. You can download the tracks on the Ipecac website for free.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Compilation November 18, 2012
Format:Audio CD
I normally don't like compilations, and I would be hard pressed to give one five stars. But this one comes as close to that as any, with all the content that it has. Isis is one of my favorite bands of all time, so I have heard most of the material before. Some demos are pretty rough, but when you add up all the goodies that come in, I think that it's a worthy purchase.

My personal highlight is the "epic" 16 minute long Grey Divide. It starts off with a "happy" melody only to be dissolved into distortion and something dark by the end. Really nice. Other pieces that most people haven't had access to digitally are Way Through Woven Branches and Pliable Foe, which are both excellent songs. The instrumental Ghost Key and acoustic / instrumental 20 Minutes / 40 Years are nice listens as well. If you add the two covers, there is already a lot on there that most Isis fans haven't heard before.

Including some of the demos like Carry or False Light may be overkill, since there are so many better live and studio recordings of these two pieces out there.

If you are new to Isis, I would recommend starting with one of their full length albums, or even Isis Live 6, which has little bit of everything.

As always, the artwork and presentation are excellent. And so was the move to provide everyone with a free access download code after the initial problem. Good work, Isis!

3.0 out of 5 stars The Rest Of Isis December 26, 2012
By Mike
Format:Audio CD
Isis, the quintessential progenitors of the 2000's post metal movement, have delivered what's likely the final release of any Isis material for the foreseeable future (unless they release another live album, that is.) For those of you who were overly enthusiastic about Isis, this collection for demos, rarities, and videos serves as an excellent epilogue on one of the best metal acts to gain prominence during the end of the nu-metal era. For the casual listener, the lack of consistency with the tracks is probably not enough for them to put this at the top of their favorites list. As an Isis fan, I have a lot of value for a demo version of Carry (my favorite song by them), but I doubt the casual listener would be geeked to hear a demo version of the song that lacks vocals. I could totally jam out to the acoustic version of "20 Minutes / 40 Years" but the kids expecting metal may be disappointed that it isn't more like the Wavering Radiant version. It's not that any of the music is bad, but it certainly seems to exist more for the enthusiastic Isis collector than it does for the purpose of introducing themselves to those who may have missed them the first time around.

While I've given two Isis albums 5 Star Ratings (Oceanic and Panopticon), I haven't given any other album a 3-star rating aside from their initial EP, Mosquito Control.

Obviously if you love Isis, this is near a no brainer. The two CD set starts out a hair rough on the production values, but then rolls into some absolutely brilliant Isis pre-studio material that leaves no doubt in my mind. Buy it.

If I was talking to person who hadn'tg been introducted to Isis, I would first send them to Panopticon and then Wavering Radiant, but if you are a seasoned Isis fan, this this set is a must, if you get the edition with the DVD, it is magnificent if you werent ablet o catch them live at a show to be able to see what it was like. I hope like, may other bamds that split up, eventually they reform and tour and make new music together, Isis, was something really special.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great compilation November 15, 2012
Format:MP3 Music
It's nice to hear the raw sound of these guys. I truly wish they do a US tour. Just a handful of new songs but anything new is good from this band.

5.0 out of 5 stars ISIS Awesome August 24, 2013

So I am a huge Isis fan and so this was a must buy for me. Was delivered on time. The only bad thing I can say is I wish there was another album coming out.

I only gave this album 4 stars because the sound quality of this (and quite a few of their live albums) have been decent... I know they are capable of putting out great sound quality because their Oceanic Live album had breath taking SQ. I feel like this album was not that. However I do realize it's directed at the more core/dedicated fans like myself. With that being said, the material is what makes this album great! Hearing live(ish) studio recordings of Wavering Radiant's tracks was awesome. The unreleased tracks were lovely (although Great Divide's middle break down was way to drawn out). For any dedicated ISIS fan this is definitely a breathe of fresh air and maybe a glimmer of hope for the band to one day reunite. Until then I will be checking out A. Harris, Jeff, Clifford, and Chino Moreno's new band The Palms as soon as they release some material.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good mix
A good mix of random outtakes, demos and lost tracks from the late great ISIS. The missing bonus tracks can be downloaded for free from Ipecac's website.

4.0 out of 5 stars Likely for hardcore Isis fans only
This is a good rarities collection. It's not for the casual fan or for someone new to the band or genre, but if you're hardcore into the band this is a must.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty much what I imagined an Isis compilation would be
I haven't watched the DVD yet but I will write a little bit about the music. It's what I expected: Demo's, remixes, intrumentals, B-sides, covers, rarities. Read more
