The best cd I have,
By Carlos Rojas (Cincinnati) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Temporal (Audio CD)
This is the most expresive music I have find, I love to search for authentic music that comes from the roots of world cultures and features a respectful, clean, modern production. If you hate syntetizers and love to feel in your skin the vibration of arabic - african percussion, spanish acoustic strings and raw deeply engaged vocals, you will love it.

By A Customer
This review is from: Temporal (Audio CD)

Music you can taste smell and touch,
By
This review is from: Temporal (Audio CD)
Although I don't think I can add too much to what has been said by others, I am compelled to tell you just how much this visceral recording grabs me. I feel like I am with the musicians.... I'm just not sure exactly where, on the map, that is! I know where Tarifa is, but the place this music takes me is pure fantasy. Wonderful carnal joy! If ever there was an advertisement for travelling to Spain, it is this recording. I like R. Argelina too, but this one you can taste, smell and touch. Pour a glass of full bodied red and enjoy!

Good, but first CD is better,

I have all four Radio Tarifa CDs. Like some other reviewers, I find the first - Rumba Argelina - the best. I think the cut "La Canal" is their very best effort. Temporal is certainly cool music, but in my opinion, it doesn't match up to its predecessor.
Regarding the comments that some of the songs on Temporal sound like they're performed by someone other the usual lead singer (Benjamin Escoriza), in fact they are. According to the insert, cuts 5 and 6 feature a guest vocalist called "Falo", whose voice I don't like very much. Temporal certainly bears the unique Radio Tarifa sound, but given the fact that it only has ten tracks, and two feature a vocalist I don't like, I felt a bit short changed.

I DEVOUR music from the Middle East, North Africa & Spain, and Radio Tarifa's is honestly some of the best I've heard in my life.

Algo para soñar,
By Ramon Flores Sarda (Palos Verdes, CA) - See all my reviews

several good songs,
By A Customer

one reviewer likes the Rumba...cd better. i agree--the sound of the man's voice is a bit harsh this time. i wonder if its the same man. there are a few good songs on temporal. i like cancion sefardi....and i like tangos de la condicion and vestido flores. i program my cd player to play only these 3 songs. if you want to dance and dance and dance try rumba argelia--all the songs on that cd are great.

Temporal does not exceed your expectations!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Temporal (Audio CD)
Unlike their first effort, Rumba Argelina, Temporal does not take you seaward with soothing vocals and mystical melodies. Instead, Temporal brings you onto the street. The vocals are harsh, almost painfully produced, and the sound grinds to an urban rhythm. I was surprised at the difference between RT's first and second offering. If you are looking to purchase your first Radio Tarifa CD, buy Rumba... If you own Rumba and want to experience where these guys are going, than sacrifice your $15 plus on Temporal. But, you may want to tape it and give it away in the end.

Incredible mixture of arabic/flamenco/greek/gypsy music.,
By A Customer

The synthesis of the various styles (flamenco/gypsy/middle eastern/greek) just blows your mind. It really works. This is the most interesting CD i've heard in a while. It had me tapping toes and clapping hands 'till the end. Excellent. Radio Tarifa's other CD is a winner also.

Exceptional World music by Radio Tarifa,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Temporal (Audio CD)
I found "Temporal" to be another satisfying creation by Radio Tarifa. I bought their first CD "Rumba Argelina" years ago, loved it, and return to it periodically. I recently purchased "Cruzando El Rio" and played it daily, finding the use of electric guitar on this album a fascinating addition to Radio Tarifa's synthesis of sounds both old and new. My review of "Cruzando El Rio" states the case, and describes their sound and influences. Their music is primarily a synthesis of traditional Spanish and North African music, with an apparent broad awareness of other types of music, building on a largely traditional base, to give it their own trademark touches. Powerful vocals, exotic instruments, imaginative arrangements, and the ability to place the listener in exotic locations and time frames are the attraction of this exceptional group. I listen to many different types of music, but have recently found Radio Tarifa disks calling to me to play and replay. Great stuff!
