FRANCE'S FINEST!!!,
By
This review is from: Tempovision (Audio CD)
To say the French have a way with music is an understatement. Artist such as AIR, Daft Punk, Cassius, Stephane Pompugnac, Alex Gopher, Dimitri From Paris and even St. Germain have made profound and significant contributions to the word of electronica...But I would be foolish to dismiss the works of underdog Etienne de Crecy, whose awesome Tempovision is a true testament that the French know their stuff. With just the right blend of synth-techno-house-funk-and ambient elements, de Crecy has created one of the most satisfying and magnificent pieces on the V2 record label, or any label, for that matter. Tempovision opens with a fax machine dial-tone on "Intronection" and oozes into the thumpin' "Relax"...next is the infectiously groovey, "Out of My Hands"--Is that Etta James on vocals...next is the Daft Punkish "Am I Wrong?" that has strong dancefloor appeal..."Noname" is a hot downtempo number that lifts you up then drops you back down to earth without you even leaving your chair. "When Jack Met Jill" is a cute-cut with a pulsing synth hook throughout and some really weird distorted vocals. The classic "Tempovision" is a funkfest of bluesy vocals and odd samples that speaks of the world today..."Scratched", the best track on Tempovision, has strong cross-over appeal without loosing its edge--dig those vocals and the scratching--hence, the song title, no doubt. "3 Day Week-End" is just a fun song meant for those summer days, with vocals from who sounds like Gladys Knight (??) and a killer rhythm guitar hook..."Rhythm and Beat" with its simple, yet catchy bassline sounds like one of those quiet storm cuts from back in the day. "Hold the Line" finishes Tempovision much like it started with what sounds like a radio playing through a telephone, finally changing into a nice sub-house number in its duration of 14:10. All in all, Tempovision is an amazing CD from Etienne de Crecy, one of France's Finest!!!

No need for discount,
By
This review is from: Tempovision (Audio CD)
If you don't know about "Super Discount" then you might need to look for some professional help. Etienne De Crecy is the prince of French house and his "Super Discount" is the project that curved the path for the whole genre. Three years later he returns with "Tempovision". Now that every one is a DJ and dance music is over hyped it is hard to come up with something new so Etienne De Crecy just slowed down a little and tried to create a musical piece that will live up to the expectations. And he succeeded. It's brilliant.
