Brandi, a burgeoning entrepreneur, is down on her luck in life and love. Her teaching job is in jeopardy, her fiance left her at the altar, and don't even get me started on her overbearing/judgmental/hypercritical mother. She's on a mission to shed a few pounds and gain some much needed self-respect in time to face her ex and fit into a bridesmaid dress for her sister's wedding. So when handsome hunk and wanna-be-pastry chef Adam moves in next door and starts filling the air with the tempting aroma of chocolate, sparks fly - first the angry kind, then the oh-my-how-can-I-resist-this-taste-of-temptation kind. Brandi is a believable character you can really relate to, and it was wonderful to watch her grow comfortable in her own skin and gain the confidence to pursue her dreams thanks to Adam's encouragement. Adam, who has his own family issues, is a wonderful character with depth and tenderness to go along with some rockin' abs.
And a hot man who cooks AND wants a gal to taste-test his delicious creations? Sign me up!
This romance was fresh, sweet, and all kinds of fun!
Definitely recommend :)

The story follows Brandi Collins, a high school teacher whose secret passion is starting her own custom-made purse business, and Adam Ellison, a business entrepreneur whose secret passion is becoming a world-famous pastry chef. Both of them come from similar pressuring family backgrounds, but despite it all, their relationship continues to grow strong. Adam helps Brandi aspire to her dream by helping her submit a proposal to a well known fashion designer, while Brandi helps Adam with judging his latest pastry recipes in preparation for an international pastry competition in Paris, France.
This was a great story featuring believable people in a believable world where people are struggling through economic times. The story leaves behind a message of believing in yourself and your dreams no matter what the nay-sayers say.
The only gripe I had about the story was that I felt the ending was resolved way too fast -- within a page, the loose ends were dealt with and there was an HEA. Brandi sounded too quick to suddenly give in after what happened a previous page before. Everything seemed to happen so quickly, like the story was being rushed to completion.
Overall, I enjoyed the story and will keep an eye out for more books by this author.
