Let me start with saying that I loved this book.

When I finished it the first time, yes I have read it twice since I got my grubby hands on it, I fought the urge to pick it up and read it again. When I re-read it, I loved it even more and fell for the main characters of Kit and Max just that little bit more.

When a book starts with a memorable line you know it’s going to be good, “I was going to die in a bathroom. Just like Elvis”. This how we meet Kit and soon after Max. I knew form the moment he tries to distract her by hitting on her and asking for a date that the chemistry would be strong with this pair and boy was it. Max and Kit almost burned up my Kindle at times with it.

I will warn you now there is a couple of rip my heart out why don’t you moments. But these are balanced with happier times and though they are tough to read are actually needed and help the story move along. There is a scene with Max and his mother and I was alternating between chuckling and sniffling during the whole thing. But there is also a snort inducing scene with his parents and Kit. Talk about awkward.

There are so many things I loved about this book that I may have highlighted far more than I thought I had when I looked back over it. I just fell in love with Max and Kit and kind of didn’t want it to end but at the same time I wanted to find out how they got to their HEA. I finished this book with a big sigh of satisfaction.

If you haven’t read this author before, buy her back list, if you have you know why she’s a favourite of mine.

3.5 stars !!

This book was very cute, I loved that Kit despite what happened to her and what she has to do to continue her recording contract never allowed being ordered around by anyone, it was a sweet and tender girl, yet strong and brave, and her love for music and people she loves was very sweet.

Max, oh my god! It's getting hot, right? A sexy firefighter with a fun flirtatious humor and a smile that melts panties, I really enjoy reading about him, it was very pleasant to do, but he was stubborn some times, but I loved his sense of hero, and loyalty to the people he loves.

The other characters were also good, and funny, I loved Dean, Kit's assistant and Max's parents, especially his mother. They contribute a lot to the story.

This novel was good, pleasant and easy to read, it was not the best novel I've read but it was not bad, the story is entertaining and the characters are good, like I said, is not amazing but it's a good story, I assure you will enjoy reading it.

My thanks to Netgalley and Burning Up the Sheets, LLC Publishing for allowing me to read and review an ARC of this book.

Kind of bored by this. There's nothing that really stands out about this book that comes even close to fascinating. We've got the gun-shy guy who's been burned before and doesn't want a commitment. Then we've got the gun-shy career girl who doesn't have time for a commitment. But somehow we know that love will conquer all and they will commit to each other. At around 60% I found myself asking if I really cared if these two characters would find a way to make it work, and my answer was no. But seeing this wasn't a completely painful read, I decided to stick it out in case of a pleasant surprise. Did I get it? In a word, no. This book was easy to put down and hard to pick back up, and that is never a good thing.

Max is great. Maybe a little too great. Aside from his fear of commitment, he's pretty much perfection on a stick. Kit? Yeah, she's pretty great, too. Aside from her tragic past, which she's fought tooth and nail to move above and beyond, she's pretty much all that and a bag of chips. You see where I'm going with this? The problem with characters like these is that they're a dime a dozen, and I've already read about thousands of them, and I'm bored of them all!

The plot? Same thing! I've read variations of this same outline a thousand times! Boy meets girl. There's chemistry, they can't stop thinking about each other, there are numerous encounters featuring steamy looks and electric touches. Something happens to break the happy couple apart, but against all odds, they come to their senses and declare their everlasting love and devotion to each other.

** Provided to me by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. **
Country music star Kit Landry has had more ups and downs in her young life than a roller coaster ride, with a fast rise to stardom followed by a crash into rehab. Now she's determined to be the "good girl" that the record execs want her to be & focus on her career. There'll be time later for relationships, marriage, a house, kids & a minivan. Kit seems more determined to take care of and provide for all those who she sees as dependent on her & feels that "me time" is selfish.

Firefighter Max Butler rescued Kit from a fire at her recording studio. To say that he's a fan is a minor understatement. He's followed her career ups & downs, but right now all he wants is to spend more time with her, have some fun. Due to a really bad, traumatic past experience, he's not the long-term relationship type. He's not interested in marriage, kids & a minivan and rarely does on more than three dates with a woman. He's got his career to think about & a promotion to try to achieve.
Convinced that she is entitled to have a little bit of personal time before the tour kicks up in 3 weeks, she agrees to a fling with Max. But a ruthless paparazzi, betrayal from within the inner circles, and some deep, dark secret threaten the already fragile enough relationship.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First, a couple of quick notes:
1) This book is written from a first-person POV, with the chapters alternating between Kit and Max. While this is one of my least favorite personal preferences of writing style, my rating is not influenced by this factor.
